SandyPines Adolescent Residential Treatment Center’s Post

Juneteenth, also known as #FreedomDay or #EmancipationDay, is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, an estimated 250,000 enslaved African Americans in Texas were told that they were free. Today, we are reflecting on inequalities that African Americans have faced throughout history and will continue to stand in solidarity with the black community. #Juneteenth
