Let's explore the concept of finding joy as legal professionals. We can feel joy in big celebrations and moments, but according to the Mayo Clinic it’s also important to "find wonder in the mundane and beauty in the everyday.” Experiencing joy and gratitude helps you be a more effective lawyer by improving mental and physical health. Importantly, research shows that joy is a state best shared with other people. When we’re experiencing joy, sharing that emotion with others helps us and them. When we’re not feeling as strong, “empathic joy”—sharing or feeling the joy of others—can help us get through the hard times. https://lnkd.in/gwxwDrPf

As May comes to a close and Mental Health Awareness Month wraps for another year I want to encourage providers to be their best advocate for themselves. Real Self-Care lies in advocacy. Challenge your employers to create sustainable workloads and safe environments for you. Use your voice to hold state regulating bodies accountable to practices that serve not only our clients but their most valuable asset YOU. You are the tool. You are the one on the front lines holding space for true healing to take place. Without you, this work doesn’t happen. You need to be well-maintained and that work rests not only on your shoulders but your supervisors, your agencies, and state regulating bodies that create policies that dictate how this work is done. We’ve come a long way but don’t stop now.

#Mentalhealth is something we all have a level of. Question…. How many of us who are able to call an #EAP service, actually do? How many of us #think ‘oh… it’s nothing, oh…. It’s silly…’ never use it, never call it…. Loneliness is more than just being alone; it's an emotional response to perceived isolation. Often described as social pain, it motivates individuals to seek connections. It's crucial to understand the distinction between solitude and loneliness. Solitude is about being apart from others, while loneliness stems from a lack of connection and intimacy. It's a subjective emotion that can be felt even in a crowd. Loneliness can be short-term or chronic, always intense and painful. Kara Huxtable, I'm looking forward to such an important event.
