IVF Lab Director at Montefiore Medical Center

Our group at Montefiore’s Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health/Albert Einstein College of Medicine recently published a study in Obstetrics and Gynecology ('The Green Journal') using SART: Society For Assisted Reproductive Technology data. We concluded that despite some improvement in the livebirth rate, nearly half of the pregnancies that resulted from the transfer of more than one embryo that underwent PGT-A were multiples. Compared with single embryo transfer, multiple embryo transfer is associated with significantly higher rates of neonatal morbidity, including preterm delivery and low birth weight. The transfer of more than one embryo that underwent PGT-A should continue to be strongly discouraged, and patients should be counseled on the significant potential for adverse outcomes.
