Our group at Montefiore’s Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health/Albert Einstein College of Medicine recently published a study in Obstetrics and Gynecology ('The Green Journal') using SART: Society For Assisted Reproductive Technology data. We concluded that despite some improvement in the livebirth rate, nearly half of the pregnancies that resulted from the transfer of more than one embryo that underwent PGT-A were multiples. Compared with single embryo transfer, multiple embryo transfer is associated with significantly higher rates of neonatal morbidity, including preterm delivery and low birth weight. The transfer of more than one embryo that underwent PGT-A should continue to be strongly discouraged, and patients should be counseled on the significant potential for adverse outcomes. Low Fetal Resistance to Hypoxia as a Cause of Stillbirth and Neonatal Encephalopathy has been published in Clinical and Experimental Obstetrics & Gynecology at: https://lnkd.in/gNwT2Ggw #Conclusions: The monitoring of fetal movements during apnea in pregnant women allows real-time assessment of fetal resistance to intrauterine hypoxia. Obtaining timely information on fetal resistance to hypoxia is critical for determining the optimal timing and type of delivery in order to prevent encephalopathy and stillbirth. #fetal_movement #hypoxia #resistance #reserves #stillbirth

January is Thyroid Awareness Month, and this week, we feature research about the impact of thyroid disorders on patients with abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB). This study, published in the International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, highlights the implications of abnormal thyroid and prolactin levels and the prevalence of hyperprolactinemia among women with AUB. Plus, the role of FABM charting is discussed as a cost-effective means to gain insight into the possible etiology of AUB. 💥 Just published! 💥 I am excited to announce the publication of my recent paper in the field of ObGyn as the corresponding author. This study titled “Comparing the effectiveness of letrozole versus methotrexate for treatment of ectopic pregnancy: A randomized controlled trial” is published in the esteemed European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology (IF: 2.6) by Elsevier. In this randomized controlled trial, we examined the clinical utility of Letrozole, an aromatase inhibtor, as the first-line treatment of hemodynamically stable ectopic pregnancies in comparison to its typical medical management, i.e., methotrexate. ✅ Patients with tubal ectopic pregnancies were allocated into either methotrexate (n = 43), 5-day course Letrozole (n = 24), or 10-day course Letrozole (n = 21) treatments. ✅ The treatment response rates in methotrexate, 5-day Letrozole, and 10-day Letrozole groups were 76.7 %, 75.0 %, and 90.5 %, respectively, with no significant differences between the groups (P-value = 0.358). 💡 These findings suggest Letrozole as a safe alternative to methotrexate in treating stable ectopic pregnancies, with a favorable treatment response rate. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my mentor, dear Professor Azadeh Tarafdari for her precious guidance throughout this project. I sincerely thank dear Dr. Alireza Hadizadeh for his invaluable contribution to this project. Also, I want to thank all of other authors and contributors to this highly valuable project.
