These nonprofit job titles are great! In all seriousness though, if your nonprofit is committed to strategic growth, consider creating a Director of Strategic Initiatives position. Over my 4 years as a consultant, working with nonprofits and quasi-governmental orgs on strategic planning, I can vouch that it's true: it's hard to carve out time to do strategic planning if you already have a fulltime job. It's hard to consistently create space to monitor for when that next episodic funding source will be available. And it can be tricky to track monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics, unless you have a single point person coordinating that. For nonprofits who expect to grow over the next few years and hire a new position, I welcome you to consider a Director of Strategic Initiatives. And if you can't hire that new position? Make sure to intentionally allocate time for strategy in your existing positions. Even add it to your annual objectives.
A boy can dream. And this boy dreams of a social sector that uplifts and celebrates job titles like this... ✅ Director of Strategic Depth (or even better...) ✅ Director of Strategic Pausing ✅ Minor Gifts Officer ✅ Chief Decent Human Behavior Officer ✅ Director of Well-Funded Equity Initiatives ✅ Vice President of Reminding Staff to Actually Take Weekends Off ✅ Chief of Staff (seriously... we all need this position and we continue confusing it with Executive Assistant) What titles would you love to see nonprofits hire and sustain? Dream with me!

“Hire the expert or the ambassador?" This is the question many of our fundraising colleagues are asking themselves – and the answer might be shifting. The reality is fundraiser tenure continues to decline, staff churn is on the rise, and burn out is ever-present. How can we combat it? Start here when hiring. Be realistic about your organizational and community culture You cannot replicate mission alignment. It exists or it doesn’t Seek talent not credentials Skills can be developed

I find it incredibly frustrating to get hired on to do political organizing and operations work that isn't entry level. I'm very good at what I do, and I don't think that it's unreasonable to say that quite a bit of it can be done remotely, especially since there are a lot of non-partisan organizations that already do. I can absolutely travel so that when I need to be places in person, I can, but a lot of positions have actually grown beyond the need to be in office, especially when they still require travel. I live in a location in North Carolina that's roughly an hour away from most of the big cities in the western part of the state. In that time, I can get to Asheville, Boone, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte. therefore, the practice of having all of these partisan jobs (my preference) based out of Raleigh feels a bit like it is disenfranchising the western portion of the state. When I worked on coordinated campaign 2 years ago, I regularly did work above and beyond my position. I had to do so because the organization did not have enough organizers and my lead would have been entirely overtaxed otherwise. But, I also have experience in doing operations and can speak specifically to the needs that rural areas (a growing area of organizing need) have that are different than our typical urban structuring. I know that I'm highly capable of more than being a glorified canvasser, and just want the chance to prove it.

Nonprofit hiring is picking up! I have seen a number of nonprofits of all sizes posting positions they are hiring for. This is exciting to see! Director of HR, Director of Development, Major Gifts Officer, COO, Marketing Coordinator...to name a few. How and who you recruit and hire is critical to your organization's success and culture. If this isn't your org's sweet spot, don't tackle it alone. Let's do it together to ensure you not only find someone who has the right experience, skill set, alignment to culture and mission, but also that it is done in a timely and compliant manner that creates a good candidate experience. #peoplemattermost #recruitment #nonprofits

Job training is most effective when people have access to job opportunities. That’s been our main approach at FCS - Focused Community Strategies, which is why we’ve spent the last decade and a half building local businesses that can offer living-wage jobs to neighbors. Over the years, this means that we’ve had some employees work with us for years, hone their skills, build their connections, and then move onto bigger companies that can offer larger opportunities. I’m thrilled for these team members! At the same time, we want to make sure talent can stay and thrive in Atlanta's Southside neighborhoods, too. And we also want to make sure that we’re intentional about paving the way for every employee’s professional success. Right now, the FCS Economic Development team, including Marvin Nesbitt Jr. and Jeff Delp, are having in-depth conversations with neighbors and consulting with others who have built out similar initiatives. If you’ve seen other neighborhoods do this well, I’d love to take a peek at what they’ve been up to. Tag them below and I’ll take a look! #EconomicVitality #PlaceMaking #EconomicDevelopment #CommunityDevelopment #ImpactInvesting #LocalEmployment

Your partner in simplifying agency and course business operations: Creating streamlined systems for clarity, efficiency, and profitability. Virtual Business Integrator▪ OBM▪ Community Strategist▪ SMM
What it feels like a Community Manager??? Being a community manager is like setting out on an exciting journey where every day offers fresh opportunities, victories, and relationships. 🌟 Although it may appear to be as simple as arranging events or monitoring online discussions, people in this position are aware that it involves much more. It all comes down to creating a dynamic, welcoming digital environment where each and every voice matters. It's about fostering involvement, fostering relationships, and fostering a sense of belonging among individuals who are varied. You wear multiple hats as a community manager: you're part cheerleader, part diplomat, and part problem solver. You serve as the link between the brand and the community, making sure that everyone feels heard and encouraged. It requires striking a balance between strategy and creativity, sensitivity and planning. Even so, there's an indisputable sense of satisfaction that comes from watching a community grow—watching its members create deep bonds, encourage one another through difficulties, and share in successes. There is an undeniable energy that comes from being at the center of something special—a community that isn't simply a collection of people but a close-knit family brought together by common interests and aspirations. Sure, there are late nights and unforeseen obstacles. I gladly dedicate this to all community managers worldwide: the unsung heroes of the background, the creators of digital towns, and the defenders of connectivity. Though your efforts may not always be noticed, they have a profound effect. Continue creating, caring, and motivating. Developing environments where people feel like they belong is something we'll keep doing together. 💫 #CommunityManager #DigitalCommunity #BuildingConnections #Belonging"
