The Richard Block Conservation Hub is now open at the Zoo! The Richard Block Conservation Hub is a new innovative and interactive space at the Zoo dedicated to conservation education and engagement. Designed to engage guests of all ages, this experiential center aims to immerse visitors in the Zoo’s conservation mindset, encouraging everyone to discover how they can contribute to saving our environment. From building and creating with sustainable materials to participating in community science projects, guests will have numerous opportunities to explore and learn. Named in honor of the Zoo’s longtime President/CEO, Richard (Rich) Block, the Conservation Hub celebrates his remarkable contributions to wildlife conservation and education. Block, who is retiring at the end of January 2025, has driven the Zoo’s growth and fostered a deep connection between the Santa Barbara community and wildlife conservation. The Conservation Hub is located next to the Barnyard and is free with Zoo admission or membership. Check it out and help save the planet!
It was quite the surprise and a humbling moment. The real credit goes to our amazing Conservation & Science team led by Dr. Estelle Sandhaus and our On Grounds team led by J.J. McLeod that directs our dynamic guest engagement strategy. I am fortunate to work with such a high-performing team of dedicated professionals. Congratulations to our Zoo team on this next big step in sharing our conservation story with Zoo guests. Thanks for this great honor!
WOW - Turned out great!!! Kudos to Jeff Crocker and Andy Croker (Mister and Mischief) for their direction on producing the project. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of the team. I'm sure it will be a big hit with guests, and a success in meeting the conservation objectives. Very rewarding project!
We might need a trip to SB to check this out, Johnny Ford & Jessica Wood! #RichardBlockFanClub

6hCongratulations, Rich! I have always been so proud to know you. I think about mutual memories, "WILSON PICKETT IN KANSAS CITY!", seeing "Gorillas in the Mist", and of course ground livers. Would love to see you again sometime!
