Supporting Pride Month this June, we hear from Geffrye Parsons in this short clip, where he discusses his tips on how to be open at work about your sexual orientation. 1. Create a private plan on how you will come out. 2. Approach your LGBTQ+ ERG or sign up as an ally to the group. 3. If you have no ERG try to find someone who is LGBTQ+ or an ally and speak to them for support. 4. Slowly introduce clues. 5. Ultimately each situation is unique, so come out at work only IF, WHEN and HOW you feel comfortable to do so. #PrideMonth #LGBTQ+

Too often, LGBTQIA+ people don't feel safe in their schools or work environments. In such places, allies can make a huge difference, and it doesn't take much. Try introducing yourself with pronouns, and including pronouns on your name tag and email signature. Another idea is offering to LGBTQIA+ leaders, artists, athletes, and advocates as positive role models in casual conversations. I like to wear my ally flag lapel pin. These simple things can brighten a LGBTQIA+ person's day, and, over time, contribute to their mental health. #itsworthit #helpmakeitbetter #lgbtqiaally #yourallyagent
