A lot of women can resonate with the feeling of being isolated and lonely as the only female on their tech teams. Speaking from my own experience, it can lead to an imposter syndrome and a longing for the feeling of belonging. But I came up with a few tricks and tips that has helped me come of this feeling.
1. Improving your visibility in the team
2. Connecting with other Women in Tech
3. Creating your own community of Women in Tech
4. Giving back to the community by mentoring other early-career women

✨Happy International Women’s Day✨
Today and every day, it’s important to celebrate, empower, and uplift the women in our networks.
As we reflect on how far we’ve come, it’s equally, if not more, important to look forward at all the work that’s left to do.
At the end of last year, women held just 35% of tech jobs in the US.
This figure dwindles even more across AI/Machine Learning/Data, and continues to do so at the leadership levels.
And don’t even get me started on funding… Companies founded by women receive less than 3% (‼️LESS THAN 3%‼️) of all VC investments.
It’s so, SO important that those in power take actionable steps to address these disparities. Not only because it’s the right thing to do, but it’ll benefit your bottom line and increase innovation.
And if you’re unsure of where to start, my DM’s are open!
Now let’s get to work 👏
Politics is everywhere, but many of us feel disconnected or uncertain about how to meaningfully engage. How can women in tech bridge the gap and make a difference?
Shawna Martell (Carta Senior Staff Engineer) will share her journey from novice to community leader, working at the intersection of technology and community organizing. By sharing practical examples based on her own experiences, Shawna will showcase the power of leveraging technology to implement solutions for political campaigns and community organizations. Learn how women in tech can use their skills to move our communities forward today.

Empowering other women to succeed is the key to breaking barriers in leadership. Such an inspiring event hosted by Microsoft and Better Together, focusing on starting discussions around how women can support each other in their leadership journeys and build a path to success! ⭐
Joining forces in Silicon Valley to empower the next generation. 💪
That was the goal behind the 6th Annual Better Together event where women leaders in the Bay Area from Microsoft and companies such as Humane, PwC, and Barracuda shared stories and spread inspiration. ✨
No 'humblebrag' intended here, folks. I'm sharing this post because it truly brightened up my rainy soggy Thursday! A big thank you to Anna Patarino for her kind words. Anna, your gesture means a lot to me.
I'd like to take a moment to emphasize the importance of what Anna did, and why we should all strive to do more of it for one another, whether as mentors, friends, colleagues, or thought leaders. While I have a deep appreciation for technology, considering it almost like a love language, I can't help but feel that we've allowed it prominence over the human element in our workplaces, conference and Zoom Rooms.
Reflecting on a recent insightful conversation with Jill Lehman, CPC, ELI-MP a CHRO Executive Coach, we discussed how PEOPLE, not things, are the true and most valuable assets of any organization. How we acknowledge and support our employees and colleagues can profoundly impact the success of a brand or product. Or it's demise. Yet, it seems we've grown somewhat stingy with recognition, often brushing it off as mere sentimentality, instead of recognizing its POWER to foster happiness among employees, which in turn fuels innovation. In short: Recognition can be a catalyst for innovation.
I hope this serves as a reminder that celebrating and honoring others not a granola-crunchy thing, but instills a sense of pride in employees and their work. And bottom line for those Cees sweating the balance sheet, that means you get more good stuff from employees and colleagues.

I had the BEST conversation with Linda Calvin, JD (she/her/hers)!
She is the Impact Officer for Reboot Representation and the powerhouse behind Transcend Consulting.
Linda's all about fostering diversity and ensuring EVERYONE has a spot at the table. 🌟
Here's a sneak peek at the pearls of wisdom I snagged from this remarkable leader:
✏ Surround yourself with mentors & sponsors
✏ Get involved with others in the community who look/act like you
✏ Find ways to alleviate your nerves (going for walks etc)
✏ Don't be afraid to fail and fail fast
✏ Walk into a room with confidence
She recently rolled out Women in Tech week starting this fall from September 15th-22nd. You can nominate an impact leader for the Women in Tech for Leading Light award below!
Part of the Collective framework is re-centering in or discovering your purpose. Purpose is the invisible compass that guides us through life, leading us to fulfillment, meaning, & joy.
Don’t get overwhelmed by the idea of finding your one true purpose. You don’t need to have it all figured out. Purpose isn’t a fixed entity but continuously evolving and changing as we grow, learn, and experience life.
Your purpose today might shift tomorrow, and that’s perfectly okay. It’s about living intentionally, discovering what inspires you, and continuously evolving.
Learn more about what joining a Collective is all about. You might just find the group of women you didn’t know you needed.

Embrace the Adventure: Women's Month Reflection 3.20.24
Sally Ride's 🚀 words echo with truth and wisdom: "All adventures — especially into new territory — are scary." As we navigate the challenges and opportunities in our personal lives and careers, these words serve as a powerful reminder🎗️ that it's normal to feel fear when stepping into the unknown. 🌍✨
But what makes these ventures so rewarding is not the absence of fear, but the courage to move forward despite it. Every new project, role, or initiative we undertake pushes us out of our comfort zones and into new realms of possibility. 🚀💫
We'd love to hear from you! Share a time when you ventured into new territory, whether in your career, personal life, or learning. How did you overcome the fear associated with this new adventure? What did you discover about yourself in the process? 📝✨
Let's turn this space into a celebration of the daring spirits of women who venture boldly into the unknown. Your stories of courage, growth, and adventure will inspire a wave of confidence across our community. 🌟💼
🌟 Startmate Women Fellowship Week 6 Wrap-Up 🌟
💫 Last week I caught up with my squad over lunch. It was so nice to connect in person, reflecting on our experiences in the program and discussing opportunities ahead.
🪰 You know those conversations where you wish you had taken notes? Last week I learned about an app called Fireflies.ai. When you feel like you want to revisit a conversation, turn on the app and it will automatically transcribe and summarise for you. That way you won’t lose those nuggets of wisdom or big ideas.
👷🏽♀️ Camille Goldstone-Henry shared her lessons learned as a founder at a Women Founders Guide session. My key take-away: as a founder you have to get comfortable with communicating big visions. You shouldn’t downplay your ambition and vision. Instead think: how big can this become?
Ladies first 🥇
Hey amazing humans, especially the phenomenal women who make this community thrive! Today, we're shining a spotlight on YOU! ✨
We're talking about the rockstars who share their brilliance, the cheerleaders who lift each other up, and the unstoppable forces who inspire us all. This community wouldn't be the same without your incredible energy and contributions.
But wait, there's more! International Women's Day isn't just about celebrating past achievements. It's about empowering ourselves for the future! So let's use this day to get intentional about growth.
Here are some fun ways to do that:
Challenge yourself:Have you been eyeing a new skill? Today's the day to take that first step! Share your goals with the community and let's hold each other accountable.
Learn from each other: We have a wealth of knowledge within this community. Let's host a virtual Q&A session or mastermind group where women can share their expertise and learn from one another.
Celebrate small wins: Growth isn't always about giant leaps. Recognizing and celebrating small victories keeps us motivated and on track. So let's shower each other with virtual high fives for all the progress we're making!
Remember, ladies, you are capable of incredible things. Keep shining brightly, keep learning, and keep growing! Let's make this community a launchpad for amazing things!
