"I tried that and it didn't work!" A common sentence I hear regularly in my coaching work from all levels within businesses and organisations. However, on closer examination, I invariably find that one thing in particular was missing...maintaining the effort beyond the initial surge, excitement or idea. Consistency means many different thing to many people but in this instance it means giving an idea the time, energy and effort to grow into something. So the next time you find yourself about to say some variation on "I tried that...", ask yourself if you really did give it a sustained enough effort for it to have had a realistic chance of succeeding or not.
