How metabolic plays role in cancer metastasis? Here comes a good review... ... They write, Successful metastasis requires a reciprocal adaptation of the colonizing tumor cells (the seed) and the receiving organ (the soil). Primary tumors metabolically shape the soil through the release of soluble factors to create a permissive premetastatic niche in selected organs. Cancer cell plasticity favors metastatic colonization by rewiring their metabolic profile according to the host landscape. Disseminating tumor cells instruct resident or recruited cells in the secondary organs to support their metabolic demands and enhance metastatic outgrowth.

Breast Cancer 4 #Metastasis Metastasis is the multiple process by which an original primary tumor develops into a distal secondary tumor. It is a representative hallmark of cancer and leads to treatment failure, leading to the death of many patients. #Metastasis is highly complex and involves multiple cellular mechanisms including division from the primary tumor, invasion, evasion of immune surveillance, and regulation of the tissue microenvironment. #breast_cancer #oncology #chemotherapy #drugs #pharmacy #pharmacist

New! Inactivation of HIPK2 attenuates KRASG12D activity and prevents pancreatic #tumorigenesis ------------- Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) features KRAS mutations in approximately 90% of human cases and excessive stromal response, termed desmoplastic reaction. Oncogenic KRAS drives pancreatic carcinogenesis by acting on both epithelial cells and tumor microenvironment (TME). In this study Cinzia Rinaldo, Davide Valente et al investigated whether HIPK2 contributes to oncogenic KRAS-driven tumorigenesis in vivo, in the onset of pancreatic cancer. March is #prostatecancer awareness month and what better time to hear from Robert Jones , MD, PhD, University of Glasgow who discusses the evolving landscape of treating castration resistant prostate cancer (#CRPC), with the introduction of targeted treatments at #ESMO2023 🎥 Over the past five years, the nature of #CRPC has shifted, which has presented novel challenges for treatment and management of patients. 💡 Prof. Jones explores the limitations of #sequentialtherapies and highlights emerging options, such as #PARPinhibitors (e.g., #olaparib) and combination trials with androgen receptor therapies. 🌟 The complexity of these treatments and their efficacy in patients with specific mutations, particularly #BRCA or #HRD, necessitates further #research to optimize #CRPC management. 🔎 Learn more 👉 https://lnkd.in/ecCvM9up #Oncology #GUsm #PCsm #Prostatecancerawarenessmonth #VJOncology

A systematic review (DOI: 10.1093/oncolo/oyae013) published in 'The Oncologist' evaluates immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in microsatellite stable colorectal cancer (MSS CRC). The analysis of 53 clinical trials indicates ICIs alone show limited benefit, with overall response rates often below 10%. However, combinations with anti-VEGF therapies and BRAF inhibitors displayed improved responses in certain molecular subgroups, suggesting a pathway for more effective treatments. This emphasizes the need for further research on predictive biomarkers and optimized combination therapies. #Oncology #TargetedTherapy #MSSColorectalCancer #TreatmentAdvancements

🚀 New research underscores the benefits of multi-node PAM pathway inhibition in prostate cancer treatment. Utilizing the #Resipher platform, the study revealed that gedatolisib, a powerful pan-PI3K/mTOR inhibitor, was far more effective than single-node inhibitors in suppressing PC cell growth, inducing apoptosis, and disrupting key metabolic functions. #ProstateCancer #CancerResearch #TherapeuticAdvances
A recent study highlights the superior effectiveness of multi-node PAM pathway inhibition over single-node approaches in prostate cancer (PC) cells. Using the #Resipher platform to measure oxygen consumption rates and other metabolic activities, researchers demonstrated that gedatolisib, a potent pan-PI3K/mTOR inhibitor, significantly outperformed single-node inhibitors in suppressing PC cell growth, inducing apoptosis, and inhibiting critical metabolic functions. These findings suggest that targeting multiple nodes of the PAM pathway could overcome resistance mechanisms in PC, offering a more robust therapeutic strategy, particularly for castration-resistant and androgen-independent prostate cancers. https://lnkd.in/egkEwtYF #ProstateCancer #CancerTreatment #TargetedTherapy #MetabolismInCancer
