Television has come a long way since its inception in 1928 with "The Queen's Messenger." From the first sitcom in 1947 to the emergence of kid's shows like "Howdy Doody" and the first cartoon "Crusader Rabbit," TV has continuously evolved. HBO, the first pay television channel in 1972, marked a significant milestone in television history.   With the vast array of content available today, it's easy to feel overwhelmed yet appreciative of the diverse programs one can view. The variety of stories allows us to immerse ourselves into new worlds and unimaginable scenarios, making TV a powerful storytelling medium.   If you could step into the shoes of a character or be part of the creative team behind a cinematic story, which narrative would you choose?   Share your thoughts on the captivating stories that inspire you and the creative collaborations you'd love to be a part of.   In 2022, I became captivated by the world of Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios #TheBoys, despite the series debuting in 2019. Better late than never, as this has been my first deep dive into appreciating the collaborative effort required to create compelling content. It's not just the on-screen talent or production crew - there are countless gifted individuals and teams working behind the scenes to bring a new series IP to life. What an excellent question posed by the Amazon MGM Studios #Socialmedia team.    My response? #TheBoys of course.    Behind the scenes is the only place you can really gain a great perspective into how a show is really created. The average person has no idea what it actually takes to put together a show or film. The labor. The art. The creative minds. All the collaboration between dozens of departments. All to provide the audience with joy and laughter, heartache and pain, thought-provoking and sometimes #bloodgutsandgore oh my, entertainment.   If I was behind the scenes of #TheBoys what would I be doing? A few roles come to mind.   📆 Production Scheduler: After completing the New Movie Magic Scheduling course, I know I would excel at this. Afterall, it's just like Tetris.    🎬 Producer: Overseeing and collaborating with all aspects of production and production departments. Skills for a producer are similar to a Project Manager. Skills like Management, Communication, Creative, Troubleshooting/Problem-solving, Financial, and Business skills to name a few.   🤝 Production Engagement/Enrichment Program Director: This role is meant to ensure and create a safe, collaborative and diverse production environment. Acting as a trusted partner by building business relationships with all members of production from the janitorial/catering staff all the way to Executive Producers, Showrunners, etc. Developing a space where all team members feel physical, mental, and psychological safety on a production set. Connecting with team members to develop a community of collaboration and creative freedom.  *Not sure if something like this exists on a production set. I’ve got a product theory about Hulu. Context: Certain movies don’t have trailers. BUT 1. The movies are recent (within the last 4 years). 2. There’s a very famous actor in the starring role. 3. The movies are often PG-13 (money makers). All the above factors would point to a trailer being available. My hunch is that these movies are the equivalent to movies of old that would have been panned critically in pilot screenings, get little to no marketing budget, and go straight to DVD to minimize losses. So, the theory is that the modern version of that situation is Hulu getting a cheap license to these otherwise unmarketable movies, putting them up on the streamer, and omitting the trailer to create curiosity and drive engagement. I’d even guess that they’ve resulted experiments that show “bad” movies without a trailer get more views than when a trailer is included, and so they continue this trend. To conclude, omitting trailers is very much an intentional product decision - a lot of the time. Any takers? Hulu , care to weigh in? #productmanagement #productstrategy #marketing

Netflix' founder is right: A company is not a family. You know those companies that say "we are a family" on their career sites. But you can't be serious. - Your family will love you if you make a mistake. - You can't choose your family. - You can't find a new family. Reed Hastings sees a company as more than a sports team. - You choose to be on the team, the team chooses you. - If someone isn't good for the team, you have to let them go. - You can do great things together if you work toward common goals. As Reed summarizes his point here: "A family is about unconditional love despite, say, your siblings' bad behavior. A dream team is about pushing yourself to be the best teammate you can be, caring intensely about your teammates, and knowing that you may not be on the team forever." Netflix, Hulu, Prime content all sucks! It’s so obvious they go with the lowest budget story and simple minded plot every time. Rent a huge house AIRBNB, affordable in normal production standards. Have a plot where they NEVER LEAVE that house or small town, because multiple (beautiful) locations is expensive. Pick the truest amateur talent just to drive the knife a bit deeper. I mean think about it. “Birdbox”. Watching Sandra Bullock’s face inside a hood, and sometimes seeing a clearly affordable forest to film in. They were probably laughing at how stupid, simple, and cheap it was because you invested and hour and half in Birdbox and so did they. It’s just about pumping out more and more content (with no quality standards) to keep the dopamine craze satisfied for TV viewers. I mean if you watched 10 Netflix series, truly how many of them do you leave thinking that was actually good? So what does this have to do with #AI and #AIproductions?… Pixar quality and mindblowing speed and production automation is here, or right around the corner. There will be those who decide to worsen the issue with seeing success as just pumping out poor content, and will continue to lower the bar for the film industry. There will also be those, who use AI and the new tools to provide that speed to bring the product to the customer in a jawdropping and timely experience. But where the human and content producers can now focus is writing a great story. They can think deeply again, develop true character archs, augment breathtaking sceneries envisioned with AI, and get down to the nitty gritty with costumes, personalities, the script, and all the things that made film REALLY great.
