Blood grouping system: 📌Karl Landsteiner in the year 1901 discovered the ABO blood grouping system. This paved the way for the discovery of various RBC antigens present on the surface of the RBC. Decades later in the year 1930 he recieved Nobel prize for his discovery in the field of medicine. 📌Though multiple blood grouping systems are available, most commonly practiced blood grouping system is ABO and RH system. 📌In ABO blood grouping system, based on the presence or absence of A and B antigens , individuals are classified as A , B ,AB and O blood group 📌Everytime when you donate your blood grouping is done and If you have any doubts regarding the blood group , we would clarify. #bloodgrouping #transfusionmedicine #blooddonation

The board of directors of the OPTN established the Expeditious Task Force in September 2023 to study and make recommendations on ways to increase the number of donated organs used for transplant and to increase the efficiency of the organ placement process. This is in keeping with federal regulation that directs the OPTN to “seek to achieve the best use of donated organs” and “promote the efficient management of organ placement.” Discover more about this initiative here: https://lnkd.in/eZ7tDY-9

🩸 Discover the life-saving benefits of plasma-derived medicinal products. The plasma collected in blood banks is sent to fractionation centres to produce medicines like Immunoglobulins, albumin, and clotting factors. These medicines go through stringent quality checks before being released into the market. PDMPs are life-saving medicines needed by patients with Hemophilia, bleeding disorders, and immune deficiency. All these are possible due to voluntary donors who donate blood and plasma. Have you heard of Myasthenia Gravis (MG)? First documented in 1672, MG causes the impulses from the brain which travel down nerves to be "blocked by antibodies before impulses reach muscle." At Vital Care, we treat MG intravenously as well as subcutaneously. You can read more from the article below. https://lnkd.in/ejzA7H4V

Donate blood today, save a life. In preparation for “Word Blood Donor Day”, tomorrow, I gave a talk on blood and blood donation at Total Energies. Blood is the fluid that flows through your blood vessels. It is made of plasma, cells, and contains different proteins, electrolytes and gases. It transports oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removes waste products from these tissues. People with certain conditions or illness like sickle cell anemia, blood cancers, bone marrow failure syndromes, frequently need blood to survive. Blood is essential for life. Donate blood, save a life.

I'm not big on national day of "insert cause 🐼 , food item 🍩 , or other miscellany here" posts. If you punctuate your calendar with these types of things and it brings you a little joy more power to you 👏 . Attempting to infuse more joy into our collective day to days can't possibly be a bad thing. That said I try to be consistent with one every year that is important to me. September 21st is World Marrow Donor Day. Patients in need of marrow transplants are forced to look outside of their immediate family for a match 70% of the time. When family matches cannot be found medical teams turn to the National Marrow Donor Program to find matches. Even with the vast power of big data and national registries, matches are still not guaranteed. Giving marrow is giving someone a chance at a moment in their life when that is the only thing that they want and need. So if you've ever been the beneficiary of a chance, or if you want to make a deposit in the karma bank, consider signing up at the link below. No money required and most people that join the registry are never called upon, just a commitment that if someone needs that chance and you are the person that holds that card that you will answer the call. Cheers 🥂 https://lnkd.in/ggWsYTbP
