The summer is a great time to start therapy! Summer months are generally slower for therapists since people are busy traveling and enjoying the weather! Therefore we have some openings. Call or text to schedule your FREE consultation! (971) 200-0482 We have some amazing clinicians who have extensive training. I’ve also been getting into something called outcomes based care (OBC), which basically means, I am working to ensure that Head & Heart Therapy ACTUALLY helps people to change. Because, although I do believe that personal growth is a lifelong process, I also know that the research shows that therapists are NOT great at predicting outcomes and they often rate themselves better than they actually are!!! 😅 So I encourage you to ask your therapist (or prospective therapist): - How do I know this is going to be effective? - What are my treatment goals (by law all therapists must have a diagnosis and treatment plan)? - What sets you and your clinic apart? - What evidence based practice do you use and what training do you have? Along with any other questions that are important to you. YOU get to decide who your healthcare providers are. #wellness #PNW #Portland #mentalhealth #EMDR #CBT #IFS #Therapy #Summer #PDX #OREGON

Helping you become a better OT who loves what you do! | Proud #OTNerd 🤓 | 2024 Finalist - OT of the Year | Open to questions and collaborations to help OTs Learn, Grow and Excel! | Owner of Your OT Tutor
When you’re setting your client up with a self-directed therapy program, how do you teach them about their exercises? Do you have a standard exercise booklet or practice diary? Or do you get creative and personalise their program with videos? Maybe you make the program engaging by gamifying it somehow. A lot of the time our default approach might be to print our clients out a standard exercise booklet, but do you ever check-in and ask your clients what they really think about it? As this quote shows, there can be mixed feedback. Some of your clients may love it, while others may find it “hopeless and confusing.” Engagement in self-directed therapy outside of our face-to-face sessions can be beneficial for our clients with a range of diagnoses, and in a range of settings, but a crucial step is making sure they can understand the therapy instructions we provide. It’s also important to ensure they have the resources they need and the support and motivation to keep going when we’re not with them. If you’d like to find out more about this topic and hear how other clinicians are overcoming barriers and maximising client engagement in their therapy programs, this month's @Your OT Tutor journal club is for you! The details you need to sign-up are in the comments. #OccupationalTherapy #Hospital #NDIS #YourOTTutor

Founder, CEO at Better Physician Life Coaching | Trauma-Informed Professional Coach, Professional Certified Coach
The impact of friendship and community cannot be overstated. Community is fundamental. It is the key to negotiating perilous times through support and shared experiences. With a strong community, anything is possible. When doubts arise, as they inevitably do, a community can provide an invaluable sounding board of encouragement and reality checks. And when our own internal beliefs aren’t up to the task, we can borrow the beliefs we have in each other to keep us moving forward. And let’s be honest, having a group of people you can relate to and who get what you’re going through is just nice. Physicians are entrenched in community throughout our training, but the camaraderie all but disappears as we reach attendinghood. Community may just be one of the most significant missing pieces for physicians in modern-day medicine that drives physician burnout, overwhelm, and overall discontent. ❓ Who is your community? ❓ Does something prevent you from finding or creating the community you need? ❓ How might having a community change your life and career? #Community #Support #Awareness #PhysicianLife #PhysicianJourney #PhysicianEmpowerment #PhysicianCare #ShowUpForYourself #PhysicianWellness #PhysicianRevolution #PhysicianWellBeing #MedicalMindsetShift
