Yesterday, happened to be the birthday of The King , Rajendra chola 1, who is considered as the second mightiest Chola emperor who reigned the Peninsular India and South east Asia in his tenure. As per inscription records , he was born on Aadi Aadhirai (ஆடி திருவாதிரை) star - Tamil lunar calendar !! He is an exceptional planner & a great administrator on both civil and military grounds . Few of his accomplishments include: (Remember its 1010 AD) 1. He had 900,000 troops and led them across the peninsula India and won over the monarchs. 2. Unlike other rulers , he respected the language and culture of the locals and appointed one of his sons as viceroy. 3. His conquest extended up to Ganges in the north which include present days Orissa , Bengal, Madhya Pradesh , Maharashtra . 4. As per the records available , he took just 70 days to command a Naval fleet to capture South East Asian kingdom of Srivijaya - which comprises present day Malaysia , parts of Indonesia . 5. Finally he commissioned a new city called as #gangaikondacholapuram and made it his capital . 6. He built a mighty temple over there which is more refined than the one his father Raja Raja built in Thanjavur !! In a scoop, I attempt to gather some facts ! How must have he mobilised 900000 thousand troops ? Imagine the quantum of logistics required to move the food (for elephants , horses of course humans )& medicine . How must have he handled the HR ? Massive team to be led without or controlled mutiny within them ! And just it took 70 days to launch a never before Naval expedition to SE Asia ! What a proactive planning must have been in place !!

- The Isles of Volmun - A Mysterious Archipelago in the Pacific Ocean Nestled in the heart of the Pacific Ocean, the Isles of Volmun were first discovered over two centuries ago by Polynesian wayfinders and later encountered by European sailors. These islands are home to a wealth of unique flora and fauna, as well as the Indigenous Huzamite people, renowned for their immense size and uncanny facial proportions. The Isles of Volmun are shrouded in mystery, frequently disappearing from radar and satellite feeds. This phenomenon has sparked ongoing debates about their existence. Despite this, many settlers have successfully located the islands, established lives and built prosperous cities and towns over the decades. However, no military force, past or present, has been able to find or approach these elusive islands. The Isles of Volmun remain one of the world's most intriguing destinations. https://lnkd.in/dprA-ESh

The word kamikaze, meaning "divine winds," has its roots in the attempted Mongol invasions of Japan. The Mongol invasions of Japan in the 13th century left an enduring mark on the historical and cultural landscape of the region. Initiated by Kublai Khan, the invasions faced unexpected challenges, including the samurai's resistance and fortuitous typhoons, later known as the "kamikaze" or divine winds, which thwarted the Mongol fleet. The invasions shaped Japan's perception of foreign threats, influencing cultural narratives for centuries. The legacy of the Mongol invasions persisted through the centuries, drawing parallels and reinforcing the association between defending Japan and repelling foreign invaders. Even in modern times, the symbolic connection between Japan's defense and the repulsion of the Mongol invasions endured, which is evident in events like the kamikaze pilots during World War II. Alfonso I of Aragon (reigned 1104-1134 AD) granted extensive estates, essentially the majority of his kingdom due to the absence of an heir, to the Knights Hospitaller and Knights Templar. These military orders, comprising professional warrior-monks, played a crucial role in the defense of the Crusader States in the Middle East. Though the initial attraction faced some reduction from Spanish nobility, it eventually proved successful, leading both orders to contribute knights to the Reconquista—the Templars in 1143 AD and the Hospitallers in 1148 AD. Furthermore, the Iberian peninsula witnessed the establishment of its own indigenous military orders. The Order of Calatrava, founded in 1158 AD, became renowned for its knights clad in distinctive black armor. The 1170s AD marked a notable period for the creation of additional military orders. The Order of Santiago was formed in 1170 AD, followed by Montjoy in Aragon in 1173 AD, Alcantara in 1176 AD, and in Portugal, the Order of Evora around 1178 AD. Notably, these local orders held a significant advantage in that they were not obligated to allocate a third of their revenue to a headquarters in the Middle East, unlike the Templars and Hospitallers. The surge in professional adventurers from various parts of Europe, particularly northern France, and Norman Sicily, was another noteworthy development. The allure of riches in southern Spain drew these warriors to join forces with Christian Spanish rulers, augmenting the military strength aligned against the Muslim forces in the region. Which military order do you find most fascinating in the context of the Reconquista—Knights Templar, Knights Hospitaller, or one of the local orders like the Order of Calatrava? #mylineage #armour #ancienthistory #militaryhistory #medievalist #medievalhistory #medievaltimes #medieval #heraldry #middleages #armor #medievalworld #warriorhistory #medievalknight #medievalarmor #knighthood #templarios #knightstemplar #templar #europeanhistory #reconquistahistory #iberiancrusades #medievalspain #historicalbattles #middleageswarfare #elcid #catolicos #cruzadas #crusades #deus https://lnkd.in/grvBKAZe

"For warriors it is essential to keep the spirit of combat in mind twenty-four hours a day, whether walking, standing still, sitting down, or reclining, never forgetting it." - The Code of the Samurai, A Modern Translation of the Bushido Shoshinshu of Taira Shigesuke It was important for the samurai to never be without swords at their sides, even for a moment. Some would even wear an edgeless sword or wooden sword to the bath. This was an important mindset to ensure they didn’t forget combat, their primary duty. Unless you are in a war zone, it is probably not practical to keep “combat” in your mind twenty-four hours a day in our modern world, but you can keep the warrior spirit in your mind 24-hours a day to help you live more powerfully. This is the warrior’s edge. We do everything with honor, integrity and a clear purpose. Visit: www.yourwarriorsedge.com

Today let's talk a little bit about the past ⚓ BAŞTARDA 🔱 Bastarda or bastarde is the name given to a warship of the towing type, a larger type of galley. It comes from the Italian term galea bastarda and describes a ship larger than a galley, used as the ship of a naval commander, an admiral or a high-ranking commander (patrona). They were usually oar-powered and Ottoman galleys had 26-32 pairs of oars, each oar being pulled by 5-7 oarsmen. However, they could also have two or a single spar and could also sail. Since they were the largest warships of the period, the Ottoman Empire attached great importance to the production of the archipelago in the 17th century. In the 18th century, it was replaced by galleons that could only sail. However, the last towing type ships were still the galleys and currently the only surviving towing galley/ galley type ship is an Ottoman Hünkar Baştardasi in the Istanbul Naval Museum. Bastarda, a warship of the galley class, usually larger than a galley, usually propelled by oars but also equipped with sails. For the Ottoman navy, three different types of galleys can be distinguished: - The half or middle basardas - Pasha's forecastle - Hünkar Baştardas Photograph: Hünkar Baştardas 🚢 #MaritimeIndustry #Shipping #MarineTechnology #MaritimeInnovation #OceanTransportation #PortsAndTerminals #MarineEngineering #MaritimeLogistics #MaritimeTrade #NavalArchitecture #Seafarers #MaritimeSafety #Oceanography #MaritimeLaw #MarineEnvironment #MaritimeEducation #MaritimeHistory #Shipbuilding #MaritimeEconomics #MaritimeSecurity #CruiseShipDepartures #MaritimeMastery #sea #sealife #sealovers #sail #sailing #sailors #marine #seaman #lifeatsea #seafriends #MaritimeIndustry #Shipping #MarineEngineering #MaritimeLogistics #MaritimeTrade #NavalArchitecture #Seafarers #MaritimeSafety #MaritimeHistory #Shipbuilding
