Taking a moment to recognize the true meaning behind Memorial Day. It's more than just a holiday; it's a solemn tribute to honor U.S. military personnel who lost their lives serving our nation. Today, we remember the freedom brought by their courage, and it's our duty to honor their memory by upholding the values they fought for. Have you ever wondered what core values the DoD and each Service live by? Here they are: DoD: Duty, Integrity, ethics, honor, courage, and loyalty. Army: Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. Marine Corps: Honor, courage, and commitment. Navy: Honor, courage, and commitment. Air Force: Integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do. Coast Guard: Honor, respect, and devotion to duty. Many people know what these words mean, but how often do we see someone actually live up to them? A question worth asking ourselves, and a great day to begin living by these values as a way to honor our history and freedom. As we enjoy this day, let's take a moment to reflect, to honor, and to remember the true essence of Memorial Day. Let's honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and strive to live up to the values they fought for. #MemorialDay #HomeoftheFree #HonorThem 🇺🇸

Today, your Air Force turns 77 years old! On September 18, 1947, the Department of the Air Force was created under the National Security Act of 1947. Formerly the Army Air Corps, we celebrate standing up as a separate service 77 years ago. For the past eight decades, the United States Air Force has dominated the skies and provided close air support for our troops on the ground. Air support for the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps and our own supporting forces to fly, fight, and win without fail. We have exhibited air superiority in every major battle this country has participated in. Superiority. Air Dominance. Owning the skies. I realize some people aren't necessarily comfortable with these domineering words. I understand that the idea of going to war doesn’t sit right with some people. Make peace, not war. Well, the United States should exhibit these attributes with our fighting forces rather than have countries who would rip the very fabric of this republic out from under us. Peace through strength is a better posture, a better plan to protect this country and all we hold dear. I am a trustee for the Air Force Museum Foundation. If you haven't been to Wright Patterson Air Force Base just outside of Dayton, Ohio, you need to plan that trip. You will be WOWED with five hangers of air history. Plan to spend the entire day. It will only cost you time, gas money and a bite to eat, because the Air Force Museum is FREE. Let me know when you’re planning to be there and I’ll meet you there! #airforce #afmf #airsuperiority #commandthecrisis

🎖️ 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 While you no longer need to remove your cap, the modern naval salute directly relates to its origins as a gesture of respect. Historically, sailors in the Royal Navy would remove their headgear to acknowledge their superiors. As described in the 1740 publication New Art of War: "When the King or Captain General is being saluted, each Officer is to time his salute so as to pull off his hat when the person he salutes is almost opposite him." This tradition differed from the Army salute, which is believed to have originated to show an open palm as a symbol of being unarmed. In the Navy: ⚓Officers would doff their caps. ⚓Seamen would touch their forelocks or knuckle their foreheads. By the 19th century, as the Royal Navy evolved into a modern force and operated alongside the Army in Victorian society, the salute was standardised to the salute we know today (hand at 45 degree angle with the palm facing in). This change was practical for life aboard ships, offering a shorter, more efficient motion. Although it’s often said the palm-facing-in salute was created in order to conceal sailors’ tar-stained hands, it is more likely a natural evolution of the original gesture of removing the cap. The naval salute remains a tradition rooted in respect, connecting today’s gestures to centuries-old practices. #MilitaryTradition #RoyalNavy #NavalHistory #PrideAndRespect

On this day in history, 30 July 1942, President Roosevelt signs Public Law 689 which establishes the Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service, or WAVES. This corps of women served as a reserve for the Navy, a necessary addition to the military after most of the young men were sent to the frontlines. Lieutenant Commander Mildred McAfee, the first female Navy officer in US history, was appointed director of WAVES, and trained over 20,000 officers and 70,000 enlisted for service. They served in a variety of capacities, from yeoman to pharmacist to aircraft mechanic. The role of WAVES was invaluable to the US Navy in a time when manpower was critical, and created yet another way for women to step up and serve their country alongside the men, forever changing the views of women in the military, and the workplace overall. After World War Two, Congress passed the Women’s Armed Forces Integration Act in 1948, giving women a permanent place in the military even during peacetime. Partners in PROMISE would like to recognize Silver Star Service Banner Day on May 1st. Silver Star Service Banner Day is for Americans to recognize and remember service members who have been wounded in combat, are sick, and who are dying. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the Silver Star Medal is the third-highest medal a member of the Armed Forces can receive for gallant action during combat. The U.S. Army normally awards the distinguished medal as the "Silver Star," while the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard award the medal as the "Silver Star Medal." All branches of the military give the award as a result of action against an enemy of the U.S. during the conflict over a short period, normally one or two days. How can you recognize Silver Star Service Banner Day: 1. Attend a local veteran organization or military base event honoring Silver Star personnel and families. 2. Display your Silver Star Service Banner outside your home or business. 3. Volunteer to help at a local event honoring Silver Star recipients. 4. Show gratitude and thank all service members for their contributions to our nation. #SilverStarServiceBannerDay #MilitaryFamilies

Motivation Monday: Honoring Veterans and the Strength of Perseverance This Veteran’s Day, I’m reflecting on my journey as an Air Force veteran and honoring the courage, discipline, and resilience of all who have served. Military service teaches us powerful lessons about perseverance and commitment to our values—our families, our freedoms, and our futures. As veterans, we know that true strength is not just physical endurance; it’s about staying focused and resilient in the face of challenges. Today, I bring that same mindset to financial planning, helping clients secure their futures with clarity, purpose, and determination. Let’s honor our veterans by channeling their example—facing our financial and personal goals with the same commitment to building a future we’re proud of. To my fellow veterans: thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and the example you continue to set for us all. 🇺🇲 #MotivationMonday #VeteransDay #AirForceVeteran #FinancialStrength #Perseverance #Gratitude #CoastalHorizonFinancialSolutions #WealthBuilding #Patriotism #Veterans
