I cannot stress enough the critical importance of addressing the hazards posed by level crossings. Having spent extensive time in the cab, I'm acutely aware of the heart-stopping moment when a road vehicle approaches a crossing at speed. The questions flood in: Will they stop? Has the driver noticed us? Should we prepare for impact? Though it's been a decade since I regularly traversed long distances up front, the reflexive fear still grips me whenever I encounter a rural level crossings. The gravity of the situation is not to be underestimated. Countless lives are at risk, all for the sake of adhering to a timetable/schedule. This chilling reality demands immediate attention and action from both the road and rail industries. All operators have to keep spreading the message and spreading awareness. Well done to Aurizon for their new campaign.

Today, I'm learning from starlings. Complex murmurations fill our skies with beauty and help the flock thrive. Complex murmurations that emerge from each starling making the same 3 decisions. Where can I observe murmurations in 4-H? How are our 4 decisions of thriving developmental contexts cultivating places where youth find and fuel sparks, experience belonging, are in developmental relationships, and youth voice is meaningfully engaged? How do these decisions ripple through our dynamic ecosystems - through (as the 4-H pledge reminds us) me, my team, my program, my community, my state, and my country? How do they ripple through projects and spark areas - through STEM, sustainable food systems, civic engagement, workforce development? As adrienne marie brown teaches us about the power and invitation of our fractal universe: "Not what are we going to do but who are we going to be?...invitation here is to 'transform yourself to transform the world'...Make it so that the relationships and formations you are in are the places to practice liberation."
