I wholeheartedly agree with this. And no better time to shout loudly about it than #smallcharitiesweek. Small charities are the lifeblood of local communities; they are trusted and respected yet they struggle to get the funds they so rightly deserve to deliver their much needed services. Collaboration is key, it’s one of the core functions of infrastructure and, done well we can enable collaborative approaches that heals amazing results. #kent #collaboration #partnerships #enable #facilitate #kentinfrastructuresupportprogramme #localinfrastructurematters @NAVCA https://lnkd.in/eh74XSAr

In the past year, we have given over £100,000 to local support organisations and charities in our community 💸! At HAB Law, we pride ourselves on making a positive difference. To ensure this, part of our 1-1-1 model makes sure that 1% of our profits are shared with client support organisations. These support organisations are at the heart of many communities and work with some of the most vulnerable members of society. By collaborating with us, they can ensure they are given vital funds to ensure they can continue to provide the amazing services they offer. This method of working has meant that we have donated over £100,000 to these organisations 🤝. It’s the HAB way 💚! We can all see the impact of local government having less funding in our local communities - whether it be in education, social care or simply the number of potholes in our roads. More councils than ever have had to issue s114 notices (effectively insolvency notices), and there are warnings that more are likely to have to do so over coming months. Councils fund a network of companies and charities in support of their objectives, and the above will have a significant effect on many of those organisations. In the attached article my colleagues review the wider effects on many stakeholders. Early advice and engagement is key to seeking the best outcome for stakeholders - and being an ostrich is no defence! If in doubt seek advice from experienced and qualified advisors. #localgovernmentfinance #charities #dontbeanostrich

Such a shame that 4 in 5 (80%) of charities have board vacancies when being a volunteer trustee is such a rewarding role. We have helped charities use open & inclusive recruitment processes to find great trustees who had never thought about the role or hadn't applied because they believed they couldn't do it. Our blog on how charities can find the right mix of trustees, and enable them to have an impact contains useful tips and advice on trustee recruitment: https://lnkd.in/eqkB-NVK Read the NCVO research here: https://lnkd.in/esxpfFYg #TrusteesWeek #TrusteeRecruitment

Small charities are champions of proximity. Small charities put a bigger % of the funds they raise to work and deliver meaningfully. They have few administrative layers and act faster than bigger charities. Yet they have to put extensive efforts into raisng much needed funds. Building tools that help them raise more with less is vital. #SmallCharityWeek #techforgood #charityfundraiser
Did you know that 96% of UK charities are small? That’s right, we’re playing a big role in providing vital services to millions of people across the country. Despite our size, we've helped over 3000 people get clothes they need to stay warm and dry. #SmallCharityWeek

Impactful interviews marking the start of Small Charity Week 📢 According to new research from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), tens of thousands of small charities are the backbone of our society, offering essential lifelines to many communities. There are around 157,400 small charities in the UK, and they are crucial. Nearly half of Brits believe the government should do more to support them, and over two-thirds say their closure would severely impact local communities. To spotlight this issue, we have arranged interviews with Sarah Elliott, CEO of NCVO, and regional case studies from small charities making a difference. These interviews will discuss how we can support these charities and what the next government must do to ensure their survival and continued impact. #EarnedMedia #SmallCharityWeek #BroadcastPR

Choosing the right legal structure is an important decision for any organisation. For many not-for-profit and non-trading organisations, be they charities, community groups, or sporting clubs, the decision will often narrow down to a trust, incorporated association or company limited by guarantee. This blog explores the differences between registering a charity or not-for-profit as an incorporated association or a company limited by guarantee. https://bit.ly/3ml3zoM #organisationallaw #notforprofit #businessstructure #companylimitedbyguarantee #incorporatedassociation
