Appetite 🍏🥬🍆🫒🌽🥭🍓🫐🥑🫑 It’s a complex thing and most of the one to one work I do with my clients in my ADHD Nutrition Clinic involves understanding appetite. Many of my clients report that they feel they: Eat too much Eat too little Eat inconsistently Crave certain foods Feel that they don’t eat ‘healthily’ There are many factors to consider when it comes to understanding appetite. Things that we investigate in clinic include: Executive functions and challenges Hormones and neurotransmitter balance Hunger and satiety hormones and signals Food intolerances Learned behaviours around food Blood sugar imbalances Stress and sleep Each of these factors can have a marked influence on our relationship with food. Working to understand YOUR drivers is often the first step to developing a balanced, rewarding relationship with food. #adhd #adhdawareness #adhdsupport #adhdcoaching #food #diet #appetite #cravings #weightloss #weightmanagement #foodfreedom #ibs #eathealthy #bloodsugarbalance

Your approach to understanding appetite in the context of ADHD is truly insightful. Recognizing that appetite is influenced by a myriad of factors like executive functions, hormone balance, learned behaviors, and even stress and sleep patterns, highlights the complexity of our relationship with food. It's great to see that your clinic delves deep into these aspects to help clients develop a more balanced and fulfilling relationship with food. It's essential to understand that each individual's journey with food is unique, and a one-size-fits-all approach rarely works. Your commitment to exploring and addressing these varied factors in a holistic way is commendable. It's an important reminder that nourishing our bodies goes beyond just the food we eat; it encompasses understanding the underlying factors that drive our eating habits. Keep up the great work in making a difference in people's lives by helping them achieve a healthier and more balanced approach to eating.

It’s a complex picture for us as ADHDers. Food serves as a stimulant, a pick me up, comfort and also a dopamine hit. We struggle to regulate day to day and I see how important a regular balanced diet can be to our symptoms. Thank you for highlighting this complexity Sarah Osborne
