It’s part two of our chat with Anne Peterson, and we’re picking up again right at the part of the story where things really go sideways for her inside the #Landmark ecosystem. She shares what it was like flying in #WernerErhard’s inner circle working as something of an Olivia Pope for the company’s high falutin’ events, and the moment that her dream gig turned into Red Flag City. 🚩 Other highlights–or lowlights more like it–include: Erhard’s legend materializing into (volatile) human form, and the scandal-plagued guru going Full Metal jacket. In this #ALittleBitCulty episode we also cover what it was like for her to confront the big lie behind the transformative work she believed in, and how she’s picking up the pieces now after emerging from Landmark’s dark side. Full disclosure: I also rant a bit, and there are some cathartic tears. Landmark loyalists should know that Anne also expresses optimism for the company’s future, should it decide to face its demons. (FWIW: We agree with her…You could be a contender, Landmark. Maybe try using the criticism to grow, and think about taking some of your own tech as medicine. You got this. We believe in you!) https://lnkd.in/gfPqYdDt

Thanks for your work, Sarah. Interesting. I've noticed and then worried about Landmark for a long time, and this just validates concerns.

That's an amazing podcast. I plan to listen again. As someone who did a fair amount of assisting, I heard echoes of what Anne is describing from time to time, but nothing to the level of what the staffer saw. I also listened to your ep on Critical Thinking. That is a tremendous piece of work -- a great body of thinking. Anything can be abused. The propensity for us to equivocate reading about something with knowing its essence is a fundamental problem in our society today. It reminded me of a fairly famous quote: “Even the truth, when believed, is a lie. You must experience the truth, not believe it.” That's the frustration with Werner: despite the terrible behavior, there is brilliance in his thinking. I also wanted to thank you for the inspired title of your podcast. Brilliant. You bring a pinch of playfulness to the topic: something that is highly needed.
