For the month of July, our Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Albuquerque are hosting our 11th Annual Back-to-School Supply Drive to help children in need begin the school year with all of the tools they need for academic success. With so many uncertainties about how children will return to school and what the classroom will look like, they need your help more than ever. Families with children in K-12 spent a projected $519 per child on back-to-school needs last year. For families in low-income neighborhoods, the costs are simply not realistic. Donating new school supplies to children in disadvantaged communities will make an impact on their ability to begin the school year school-ready. Items we are collecting: -Pencils -Pens -Composition Books -Combination Locks -Scientific Calculators -5-Subject Notebooks -Tissues -Hand Sanitizer -Wet Wipes -Trapper Keepers -Colored Pencils -Markers -Protractors -Paint Sets -Glue Bottles -Notebook Paper -Highlighters -Scissors -Sharpeners -Pocket Folders To donate, simply comment below and we'll have a volunteer coordinate a donation pick up!! #TeamWhoIAm_Albuquerque

A little off topic today but this is near and dear to me. As a parent and advocate for education, I've witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of the GT (Gifted and Talented) program on our children's lives. Unfortunately, due to state budget cuts, our daughter's GT program, SPIRAL, is facing imminent restructuring, which would significantly diminish the quality of instruction next year. But there's hope, and you can be a part of it. The PTA is rallying support to preserve the SPIRAL program through donations to the Spring Branch Educational Foundation (SBEF). Your contribution will directly aid in sustaining this vital program, ensuring that our children continue to receive the enrichment and education they deserve. Here's how you can help: 1. Join us from June 1st to July 12th in supporting local students as they gear up for the upcoming school year. Our collective efforts will help create a special Back to School bash on July 20th, where all collected supplies will be distributed at Tanger Outlets to the students in need. How You Can Help: 1. Drop Off School Supplies - Participating Stores: Look for stores with a Supply Drive decal on their doors. These locations have drop-off boxes where you can leave your donated school supplies. - Southaven Chamber of Commers - Desoto County School District Office 2. Monetary Donations: - The Hope Center: If you prefer to make a monetary donation, please contribute through The Hope Center HERE. Reflecting upon my own upbringing, I recall a lack of access to quality education, a limitation that hindered the acquisition of even the most fundamental literacy skills. With the passage of time, this narrative replayed itself in the lives of countless other children. It was then, amid these shared experiences, that a fervent desire was kindled within me. A desire that is steer towards the change in educational sector ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, is bestowed with the gift of a quality education. However, there are children in our local community who face challenges in accessing basic school supplies, hindering their learning and growth. We are seeking donations of new or gently used school supplies to provide to children in need. Here is a list of items that would greatly benefit these young learners: 1. Notebooks 2. Pens, pencils, and erasers 3. Crayons, markers, and colored pencils 4. Rulers and scissors 5. Glue sticks and tape 6. Backpacks and school bags How can you contribute?
