If you’re looking to serve and to lead in higher education in Georgia, please nominate yourself for a GCPA Executive Board Position Here are some FAQs for you. Watch the video to hear about it! (1:28) How did I get involved in GCPA? I had just gone to ACPA’s Convention for the first time and was looking for the Georgia table amongst all of the states—where are my Georgia folks?? I later found out that GCPA had dissolved during the pandemic. And, with no board experience (but a good bit of higher education experience!), I nominated myself for President. Fast-forward to now—I’ve had two years on the executive board and it’s been the most life-giving experience in my higher education career. Do you need board experience to join the board? No! You need passion for higher education in Georgia, though. You will bring your own skills and experiences to help build our work. You’ll also be surrounded by executive board members who have the same passion and you all will figure it out together. Do you need to have a higher title or position in your institution to join the board? Absolutely not! The time for you to lead is now. Step into it, with the support of your colleagues on the board. Our final plenary session, ‘Global strategies to drive local growth: building new links between education and trade’ is now taking place. Chaired by Steffan Davies, IHE Board Member, our panel of experts on this topic are Rupert Daniels (Department for Business and Trade), Jane Rexworthy, FInstLM, Chartered FCIPD, (People 1st International), Lara Carmona (Creative UK), and IHE’s very own Joy Elliott-Bowman. They’re sharing their thoughts on how the HE sector can partner with growth sectors like the creative industries to continue positioning the UK as a global hub for talent and innovation. Notes 📝 - A desire for intersectional education is on the rise, and when creating strategies, we need to have SME education at the heart, and what they need to thrive in a globally competitive market. - IHE members do a lot of work on skills, short courses and industry - we need to showcase short lifelong learning as part of the education cycle and promote these among international students too, especially within creative industries. - Every domestic initiative we have to build skills needs to also have a global element to it, and which is communicated more effectively globally. Now ending the session with comments and questions from delegates.

I am heading to #StLouis for the Council of Graduate Schools 2024 Annual Meeting this week. I will be presenting in the session: Preparing for Uncertainty: Strategic Planning at Critical Junctures Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 9:00-11:00 AM CST Based on my 2019 paper*, I will talk about my experiences at The University of Texas at San Antonio and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley related to Key Performance Indicators (#KPI) and #Strategic Planning: Quantitative tools are crucial for creating a solid foundation for strategic planning and execution. However, the key to turning plans into action lies in accurately identifying stakeholders and maintaining their engagement through clear communication grounded in metrics and performance indicators. A data-driven approach fosters awareness, accountability, and action, while promoting organizational alignment and driving momentum toward achieving goals on schedule. *(https://lnkd.in/dXEkQn-y) If you are attending CGS 2024 (https://lnkd.in/dkCmmPHD), see you in St. Louis.
