After learning and doing hands on practicals on Windows server administration I can relate to this meme 🙌 "Even the servers have trust issues, demanding admin permissions from an administrator. It's like asking Batman for ID at the Batcave entrance. Maybe the servers just want a superhero confirmation!"😅 #windowsserveradministrator #windowsserver #windowsadmin #systemadministration

To all my sysadmin friends and followers, if you run OpenSSH services on your Windows servers, look out. This month Windows Update broke permissions on the log directory causing the OpenSSH Service to fail to start. I have validated that this occurs on Server 2019 and Server 2022, but I have not had a chance to validate on Server 2016. (If anyone has let me know!) I have found the easiest quick fix is to simply delete the log directory in "%ProgramData%\ssh\logs" Once deleted restart the service and it will recreate the directory with the correct permissions. The interesting thing here is that OOB experience is that OpenSSH is not configured to log anything, however, the service will still fail to start even if it's not writing anything to the logs directory. #WindowsUpdate #OpenSSH #PatchTuesday

Yesterday my UPI transaction failed twice in a row.. My first reaction - Jesus, how come UPI is using windows based servers!!! The transaction went through 3rd time... My reaction - Thank God! They are using Linux based servers! This sums up my confidence level in windows based servers..... I used to manage a service in Yahoo! which was using 300 windows servers. At any point in time 10% of them would be down! So my confidence level has a data point as well. Go Linux for critical services! **** edurigo.com #bluescreenofdeath #outage #servers #cloudops
