Smooth Sailors understand that their present state is a sum total of the past they lived. A sum total of ACCUMULATED FEEDBACK of their emotional, mental and psychological responses to life happenings. It is as well a sum total of accumulated feedback of decisions and indecisions made in the past. As a matter of importance to the future they want to live, they deliberately take stock of their present state. This is vital for the journey ahead as it serves as a building block for an immune system against repeated unfavourable outcomes presently experienced. They identify 3 key things. - What is working for them, - What is not working for them and - What they have that is not fully utilised. The journey through life for a Smooth Sailor stems from the recognition and acceptance of being responsible for where they are now. The choice to be responsible comes with a price. The price is ultimately being the Captain of their ship going forward. They recognise that doing this alone can propel them towards a desirable goal faster. It is with this in mind that they seem to be people not living in this world as their way of doing life is never externally determined but internally navigated. So they respond to life in full expression of all the good that is possible. And this is one key component of the new tone of life the Smooth Sailor lives.

𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐖 Meet Rogelio, a shining example of dedication & hard work. Starting as a cadet and progressing through ranks, holding the prestigious title of Chief Engineer his journey has been truly remarkable. In an era where handwritten letters were the lifelines to loved ones, Rogelio's reliance on them symbolizes a bygone era of heartfelt connections amidst vast oceans. Each letter carried not just words, but the hopes and dreams of a father striving to bridge the distance for his family. In today's world of instant communication, those letters add a layer of nostalgia and appreciation for simpler times.   Yet, amidst the demands of his career, Rogelio missed crucial family moments, including his daughter's birth and graduation—a sacrifice that weighs heavily on his heart and reminds us of the sacrifices made in pursuit of our ambitions. However, Rogelio's story isn't just one of sacrifice but also ambition and growth fuelled by the support of mentors like his C/Es, Captains, and superintendents. He seized every opportunity to further his career, consistently striving for excellence.    His professionalism and ability to foster harmony among his co-workers have been instrumental in achieving collective success, recognizing the importance of teamwork in the maritime realm.  Outside of the ship, Rogelio took comfort in karaoke nights, a cherished past time that let him relax and rejuvenate despite the responsibilities of his work.   In every line of his story, there's a lesson—a reminder of the importance of perseverance, professionalism, balancing career and family, and the pursuit of excellence.    He stresses teamwork's importance: "𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡."    So, here's to Rogelio. This week has been a watershed for me. Like the boom swinging over and knocking me on the head, I have been struck by my mission. I now know why I am here on the sailboat. The "why" of all of these difficult decisions has finally become clear to me! I am sailing to Scotland, my ancestral home. Somewhere along the way, I will find my forever person.
