Seattle University students here are some Career Fair Prep Tips for next week's fair. 🔎Research and Target Companies: ● Identify your interests: Determine the industries and companies that align with your career goals. ● Research companies: Learn about their mission, values, recent news, and open posItions. ● Tailor your approach: Prepare specific questions and talking points for each company you're interested in. 🗣Practice What To Say: ● Craft a concise introduction: Clearly state your name, major, year, and the type of position you're seeking. ● Highlight key skills and experiences: Emphasize your relevant qualifications that make you a strong candidate. ● Practice in advance: Rehearse your elevator pitch to feel confident and natural when delivering it. 💻Prepare Your Resume and Questions: ● Update your resume: Ensure it's error-free, highlights your accomplishments, and is tailored to the specific roles you're targeting. ● Prepare questions: Think of insightful questions to ask employers about their company culture, projects, or career paths. ● Most companies use online applications systems so resumes are not necessary but it doesn't hurt a bring a few copies with you particularly for the target companies you plan to visit. ● Update your profile in Handshake AND make it visible to employers for the days leading up to the fair and at least a couple of weeks after the fair.

GWS Printing Systems Represented at Walewyc MAVO Career Fair On November 25, GWS Printing Systems participated in the career fair at Walewyc MAVO in Waalwijk, where 37 companies showcased their activities. The event aims to introduce students aged 14 to 16 to various industries and support them in making informed career choices. Commercial Director Iwan In den Bosch explained: “We place great importance on supporting schools wherever possible. Young people represent the future, and for a technically-oriented company like GWS, it’s essential to stay connected with the next generation of professionals.” This year, GWS was represented by Technical Project Manager Stefan van der Linden and former owner Eric Van. Exciting Day at Texas A&M University Career Fair! Yesterday, I had the incredible opportunity to represent our company at the Texas A&M University Career Fair, where we connected with a pool of brilliant and motivated students. As an engineering manager, it was inspiring to see so many talented individuals from the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments eager to contribute to the future of construction equipment, product management, and innovation. We had insightful conversations with students who are not just excelling in their academic endeavors, but are also hungry to bring fresh ideas to the industry. It was refreshing to hear their questions about career growth, hands-on project involvement, leadership opportunities, and their genuine interest in cutting-edge technologies. What stood out to me the most was their passion for real-world impact—many are ready to dive into roles in Product Support and Product Management, where they can directly influence product development and customer success. It’s clear that the next generation of engineers is driven by innovation, and they are equipped with the skills and mindset to excel. Thank you to Texas A&M for hosting such a fantastic event. Here is a fact... Summer-Time Career Fairs are tough to attend in our industry. Everyone is chasing their tails. They are crazy busy. Most companies flat out prioritize revenue in the Summer... ESPECIALLY in these times. And who can blame them? Here is another fact... Technical College enrollment is through the ROOF. There are more folks going to school these days for HVAC/R than in the past decade plus. We were so excited to be invited to a local Technical College last week to educate their students on our Industry. This particular college has nearly 100 enrolled HVAC/R Students! Clayton and Daniel represented Coastline, our Values, and our Industry as a whole. And the feedback was incredible! We were the only company from our industry in attendance, so this event felt more important than most. The booth was buzzing with energy and excitement for our Industry! Most companies have put a pause on hiring these aspiring technicians. At Coastline, we are purposefully built to give aspiring Technicians an opportunity to change their lives. We prioritize these events (even in the Summer!) and will continue to educate, motivate and excite aspiring technicians on the endless opportunities our Industry can offer. I recently had the opportunity to attend a STEM careers fair and speak to students on behalf of TTP, The Technology Partnership, where I am doing a mechanical engineering Year in Industry. It was a tiring but interesting day speaking to a wide variety of people. I particularly enjoyed the more in-depth conversations with students who had already heard about the company. As a student myself at The University of Sheffield, I thought I'd share some of my insights on how students can make the most of career fairs.   KEY POINTS 1. Employers are looking for potential applicants 2. Students should be ready to engage with future employers and recruitment teams 3. Students in their final year or with a placement during their degree can find out about the companies and roles available to them. First-year students can learn about what opportunities are available later down the line, but may not find positions they can apply to immediately.   WHAT TO DO 1. Prepare questions to ask and research the companies beforehand where possible 2. Prepare how to focus your time or you could spend hours there speaking to every company 3. Start by briefly introducing yourself and your degree - some companies are looking for applicants with particular degrees 4. Seem interested in the people and companies you speak to 5. Learn about the company - you can learn things that are not online and that are useful in interviews e.g. what projects they do, the recruitment process, what they are looking for in an application 6. Follow-up afterwards by applying to the ones that looked good as soon as possible   IMPORTANTLY 1. Don't just ask for some merch without talking to the people on the stand 2. Speak clearly and loudly - the venues can be really noisy 3. Be respectful of personal space where possible 4. Know when to leave, especially if there are lots of people waiting to speak to that employer
