This Government is currently dismantling many ideals our citizens wanted. The "gun" issue is just one aspect. Death's of our Citizens and visitors must not be forgotten...Muslim's are multicultural; tax paying, educated citizens of this country. Last time I looked we are an independent country. We have still got more sheep than humans, however us "Citizens" don't blindly follow....this "triple leadership Government" is fast tracking us to be so far up USA/Australia's butt; we can't find our way out. Time to think for ourselves. If/When war happens; we will be wiped out; having automatic weapons will not benefit any citizens of New Zealand. Crime with weapons still happening, maybe this Government needs to focus on that rather than increase criminals chances of procurement of lethal force!
It's a little under the radar, but the government is quietly getting ready to change our gun laws, reversing the consensus that was achieved after the horror of the March 15 Mosque shootings. The law we passed to largely ban Military Style Semi-Automatic weapons has made our country a safer place, and any move to increase the number of them in circulation creates a greater risk that a person with ill-intent can inflict mass casualties in mere seconds. The small benefit being advanced by the government - allowing certain classes of competitive shooting to occur just doesn't outweigh the risk, and the duty to keep people as safe as possible. I was immensely proud of the work of our parliament to pass this law and the small part I played in it, and am astonished that the government is considering this just five years after the March 15 massacre. The cooler heads in the National Party should rein this in now, and if not it is time for communities to mobilise. More below:

When Deadly Force is Permissible in Self-Defense In some circumstances, a person may use deadly force to protect himself. Deadly force is an amount of force that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury. A person may only use deadly force where he believes he is in imminent danger of death or serious bodily harm from another. Some states require the person to retreat or attempt to retreat before using deadly force in self-defense. Other states permit a person to stand their ground, that is, not requiring an attempt to retreat before using deadly force. Examples of self-defense include force that involves guns, knives, obvious weapons, or any non-obvious weapon used against another person in a manner that is reasonably likely to produce death or seriously bodily harm. https://lnkd.in/df-F3XVg

**Exploring Less Than Lethal Rounds: A Viable Solution with Alternative Ballistics** In a previous white paper, I explored the critical issue of integrating less than lethal rounds into an officer's main duty weapon. This approach aimed to mitigate the risks associated with lethal force while ensuring officers could effectively manage high-stakes situations. Traditional firearms, while essential for law enforcement, often present a dichotomy: the need for immediate, decisive action versus the moral and societal imperative to preserve life whenever possible. The introduction of less than lethal rounds, such as rubber bullets or bean bag rounds, into standard-issue firearms has been proposed by many as a solution. However, practical challenges, such as the need for rapid transition between ammunition types and the potential for misuse, have hindered widespread adoption. This is where Alternative Ballistics comes into play. Their innovative system attaches a non-lethal projectile to the front of a standard bullet, transforming it into a blunt-force instrument upon firing. This ensures that the first shot is non-lethal, significantly reducing the risk of fatality while maintaining the officer's ability to quickly switch to lethal force if the situation escalates. Alternative Ballistics' solution addresses the critical need for a balanced approach, providing officers with an immediate, less than lethal option without the need for additional equipment or complex procedures. This breakthrough represents a significant step forward in law enforcement, promising enhanced safety for both officers and the communities they serve. Check out their website below or connect with Jason LeBlanc for more info. #AlternativeBallistics #Lawenforcement #LessThanLethal #Police #OfficerSafety

Take Action: Sign the petition: Ban assault weapons! Friend, I took an action on Action Network called Sign the petition: Ban assault weapons! . Every day, we hear news of another mass shooting, another life lost, another community shattered. The common denominator? Assault weapons. These firearms have no place in our neighborhoods. Congress must take action and ban assault weapons. The assailant in the recent mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, that left 18 people dead, used an assault rifle--and reignited the urgent need for action. Assault weapons are disproportionately used in crimes involving multiple victims and police officers. Shooters used assault rifles in mass shootings at Sandy Hook in 2012, at a Orlando nightclub in 2016, a Vegas concert in 2017, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018, Uvalde, TX, in 2022, and Lewiston in 2023. With easy access to military-style semi-automatic assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, too many individuals have filled our schools, malls, concerts, movie theaters, places of worship, stores, highways, parades, and other public spaces with terror, devastation, and terrible loss. These are not just numbers; they are lives lost and communities torn apart. Banning assault weapons saves lives. The 1994 federal assault weapons ban reduced the risk of a person in the U.S. dying from a mass shooting by 70%. Both the number of deaths and the number of annual incidents decreased significantly. Congress failed to extend the assault weapons ban beyond 2004. An assault weapons ban is a proven solution that can work again. Recent polls show that a majority of voters support banning assault weapons. Even politicians once opposed to such measures are changing their stance. Maine Congressman Jared Golden recently dropped his opposition to an assault weapons ban, apologizing to his community for his lack of action on this issue. As the numbers of mass shootings rise, leaders should be held accountable for inaction. Thoughts and prayers are not enough. Too many Americans are senselessly gunned down in public spaces in towns and cities across the nation. Americans deserve a strong response from the federal government. Experienced Cabin Crew Aspiring Pilot ! Flown Successfully Everyday On Sim for about 5 years on 747/737/CRJ with just the Keyboard to complete the mission.
What can anyone say when the American president himself is being so defensive about having a gun. Why would he ever need to use it ? On who ? Against who ? Do you know what a gun does .. ? It shoots a bullet at the one you aim killing him/her immediately. Basically the shooter destroys & goes against God's creation. Yes Holding a gun in your hand does give you a feeling that you are superior to the rest as then the feeling creeps in that you can put anybody down who doesn't comply with your demands. But do you think it is right ? Just a few moments later the other person has it in his hands then what .. ? Now he could put anyone down including you. Think about it A gun or any ammunition ever made was such a big mistake. You are a Human and why do you need a gun .. to kill another Human ? The last time I checked there are about 300 million licensed gun holders with guns & ammunition that goes to trillions in the United States only. Think about the rest of the world. There are people around the world who follow what you do as you being the number 1 country, so why send out or show wrong things. You guys should be the one's who show & say that gun use is wrong. And the guns should be destroyed with immediate effect. And this change can only start to happen if we cut out scene's of anger & aggression & the use of the gun from the television & the movies. Remember this that even the atom bomb or nuclear bombs were made with the best intentions. Now see what that knowledge has given to Humans, we are ready to fight against each other with the use of nuclear war heads & we are on the verge of a World War .. Please I request you to not prove God wrong in giving you the life you are living. Almost everything can be worked out by the way of talking to each other. Why do you need to occupy someone else's space - country or even a needle. If you really want to use anyTHING that the other has then just be humble enough to ask for it with remuneration as provided by the LAW and for that the LAW also needs amendments and almost everything could be used & utilized in the best way possible.

In honor of my personal hero and the namesake of Brady: United Against Gun Violence, join me in a week of action against gun violence. Here are ways for everyone to get involved to help #EndGunViolence from wherever you are. If you own firearms, make sure they are stored locked, unloaded, and separated from ammunition. Text your friends and family members who own guns to ensure they are safely stored, too. 1. Call your congressperson and urge them to renew the assault weapons ban, repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), and ensure extreme risk protection orders (ERPOs) are made available in every state. 2. Sign up to volunteer with Brady! 3. Contribute to Brady. 4. Learn about the #ShowGunSafety pledge. Make sure to follow me on Instagram (@kristinbrown68) for more reminders about how you can take action. See you there!

The LAPD is the largest police agency to use of a less-lethal weapon that fires foam projectiles the size of a soda can (a 40-millimeter less- lethal foam projectile round at up to 188 mph) from a launcher at combative subjects as an "immediate force option." Of the 133 projectiles deployed by LAPD officers in 2023, 49 were effective for a 37% success rate. That's an effective rate that is even less than that taser (tasers are about 68 percent effective) as a less-lethal option.
LAPD less-lethal launchers often ineffective in subduing suspects, report says
