While Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day has passed, the urgent need to address the disproportionate impact of HIV/AIDS in the South remains. According to the CDC, the South bears the heaviest burden of HIV infection, illness, and deaths in the U.S. The fight continues - to erase HIV/AIDS-related stigma, discrimination, and disparities, to advocate for needed awareness, partnerships, resources, and to promote HIV/AIDS-related health equity by addressing upstream drivers. #StopHIVStigma #HIV #HealthEquity Southern AIDS Coalition Satcher Health Leadership Institute

Dr. Charisse Ahmed encourages us to get tested for HIV and highlights the importance of knowing one’s status early. She states that early testing and treatment are key to managing HIV effectively and achieving an undetectable viral load, which means the virus can not be transmitted. Taking control of one’s health starts with a simple test, and knowing your status is the first step toward securing a healthy future. #hivtesting #knowyourstatus #U=U #secureyourfuture #hivawareness
