U.S. Space Command has a new strategy: Integrating more commercial systems into their operations. This comes at a time when the national security space community is beginning to work more with the private sector. And although it’s not a new idea, it is certainly a more focused and strategic effort to successfully engage and leverage new commercially developed technology from a broader base of space sector participants. "The strategies are part of a larger Defense Department push to better engage with private sector space companies, encouraging the acquisition workforce to look for off-the-shelf systems when possible and developing concepts for how it will leverage commercial technology in future conflicts," writes Courtney Albon. This is a positive step and one that will need nurturing at all echelons, as it will require a cultural adjustment. Yet when public and private sectors work together, we can innovate and achieve our goals more quickly…and from what we’ve been told, time is of the essence. #thefutureisnow #newspace #SpaceTech #NationalSecurity #USSF

Have a look at our new report on Responsive Space in Europe which is a must-read to learn more about the space economy! 🚀
The increasing dependence on #space systems marks a pivotal juncture for global #infrastructure, where space acts not only as a strategic asset but also as a critical enabler for diverse capabilities. As the global space economy continues to evolve, the integration of new actors and technologies will require continued adaptation of legal and regulatory frameworks to support #sustainable and safe space activities. Looking ahead, the space industry will need to focus on technologies that facilitate rapid deployment and enhance the operational flexibility of space assets, such as advancements in on-orbit servicing, modular satellite designs, and AI-driven mission control systems. As the space economy evolves, adapting legal and regulatory frameworks and fostering international cooperation will be crucial for supporting sustainable space activities and boosting global space infrastructure resilience. However, there are still some critical bottlenecks that need to be overcome in deploying responsive space. Find out more in our latest Strategy& and PwC study: https://lnkd.in/eWpzdydT Dr. Jan H.
