WSG have been hard at work at Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) on Stand A5, discussing and showcasing our services.   Throughout today and tomorrow we are also running demos of our APEX Pigging Tracking System. APEX is an ultra-reliable, accurate, easy to use above ground marker (AGM) system, which enables real-time remote tracking of pigs with EM transmitters – rare earth magnets and acoustic tracking through geophone input. The pig location can be monitored in real time from any location, using the web-based portal.   These devices can be operated remotely, via the web-based app, in an unlimited number, sequentially, to build an entire system that tracks, logs, collects and processes data from pig’s passages – monitoring progress across an entire pipeline. Could a program of pressure transient monitoring feed a more targeted operational response? Dutch utility Evides Waterbedrijf wondered. “Based on Evides' experience with regular transient measurements, this project was formed to explore other potential deployment strategies. One strategy is the use of a limited number of Syrinix sensors to triangulate burst events," Henk De Kater, Asset Management, Evides said. "In close collaboration with the Syrinix team we managed to define a practical test area. The Syrinix team could optimize the required number of sensors based on the available network data and the expected triangulation results.
