🚴♀️ Join Us in the Fight Against Modern Slavery: Ride for Freedom 🌍 We’re thrilled to support Ride for Freedom, an incredible initiative that aligns with our mission to promote sustainability and human rights. Through the power of cycling, we’re looking to raise awareness, educate, and forge partnerships to end modern slavery while providing vital support to survivors, aligning to the UN’s #SustainabilityDevelopmentGoals (8.7). Fighting modern slavery is integral to building a circular economy that is not only environmentally sustainable but also socially responsible, ensuring that human rights are upheld throughout the entire lifecycle of products and services. Colleagues will be donating bikes to the cause, that will deliver these great benefits: - 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘀: providing survivors of modern slavery with a sustainable and independent mode of transportation. - 𝗘𝗰𝗼-𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: promoting sustainable transport and extending the lifespan of donated bikes, delivering a carbon reduction impact. - 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: joining a community dedicated to supporting survivors of modern slavery, helping them to rebuild their lives. Suicide in Construction! Our biggest killer! On average 500 people take their own lives in our industry every year. So what do I plan to do about it? I plan to run 500 miles in full PPE over 36 weeks. That works out about a half marathon every single week ending on world suicide prevention day, the 10th Sept. I will be running all over the UK, doing various official half marathons, also will be doing park runs etc. The aim is to get about as much as possible to help start the conversation across the industry, I also want to raise money for Mates in Mind who are partnering me for this event. They are a leading UK charity that enables organisations, of any size, to improve their workforces’ mental health. They do this by providing the skills, clarity and confidence to employers on how to raise awareness, improve understanding and address the stigma that surrounds mental health. How can you help? Simple: - I am looking for company sponsors who would like to put their logo on my PPE and be mentioned within my blogs throughout the journey. I would ask for a kind donation for this. Personaly this would help show the vast commitment of the industry to reduce these ridiculously high numbers. - If you want to run with me, please do!
