Last Friday was a milestone for us at FernGlasz - why? Because we launched the core product of our offering - LIVE Projects, which will allow companies & individuals to post projects and the same will be applied to & completed by students across colleges. "LIVE Projects" for us is NOT merely a feature - but the tool to up-skill students by completing multiple projects in their areas of interest. As they complete the projects, the ratings received by the project poster (after completion of the project), feedback and other related details will be added to the student's profile. Net effect??? "...The student will be building their profile with every project, and that will serve as THE body of work which will help them demonstrate their readiness to companies, when the time comes to get into full-time job. In the absence of it, there isn't much for companies to rely on to make an informed decision.." It is our belief that the BEST way to skill yourself is by working on real-life problem statements, which can come from the existing industry players only. No amount of coursework and/or academic projects can substitute practical experience. And in today's ecosystem - almost every effort to up-skill is somewhere being driven via training and/courses. 🚨Hiring Interns🚨 ——- Update on post - I’ve received a huge number of applications. The opening is is under consideration now and I’m not taking any more applications. Thank you for such an overwhelming response :) ——- The last month, I had a very good problem. And interesting one actually. I was working extremely long hours and I was in all honesty, *swamped above my neck*. Maybe, just maybe, I needed help with working on my strategy projects, in addition to also building The Co-Lab. I kept telling myself, it’s too soon to know that I’ll actually need help. Let’s get through a few weeks. 1 week later, same feeling. 3 weeks later, same feeling. 5 weeks later, nope. The exact opposite. It’s back to I need to build a pipeline. I am not at a position to say I want to hire for the future. Actually, no. Being such a nascent company, I want to make sure I hire for when I actually need it and can afford to pay minimum wages. Atleast for today. But when I do want help, I’d like to know who to reach out to for help. If you’re a curious student, with interest in research, advertising, branding and strategy, leave me a message. In return, I promise some good work and learning, in. I may not have too much money to pay, yet. I believe in above average salary and as soon as we can, I promise to. We can discuss this in detail. When I was in college, I spent countless hours learning new skills and earning certifications on platforms like Udemy, Coursera, and YouTube. ** Why you should consider hiring IT grads.. Yes the market is becoming more scarce on the daily for experienced professionals in many sectors - that's no secret.. So many of my clients have been starting to seriously consider hiring grads for the first time in years. 👉 I think it's a great idea - here is my 2 cents worth..hopefully it's worth a little more than that.. 😜 - They are bright eyed, enthusiastic, passionate, grateful and hungry to learn and make their mark in the world - as opposed to us sometimes more jaded "old folk".. - They come with less baggage/pre-conceived ideas and will welcome new ways to do things - heck they may even bring ideas that you never even considered! Which could be absolute game changers for your business.. - If you look after them and make them feel like they are contributing they will remain loyal, dedicated and may give you some of the best return on investment as far as new hires are concerned - They won't ask (or even expect) a pay rise too frequently and anything you offer will be thoroughly appreciated! - They will be happy to learn and action the mundane tasks that others will shy/run away from.. - They will do the training you set! - They won't break the bank but they will need your attention and mentorship - so be prepared to give it otherwise you will have wasted an incredible opportunity - They will probably know many other great grad peers looking for a similar role..aka. recruitment leverage :-) - And they will bring a lovely innocent energy and sense of fun to your office - and who doesn't need that!! 🙏 I hope this has given you some food for thought in the attempt to alleviate the demands put on your company's service and growth plans in this time of skills-shortage :-)
