At OneDrone HR, we work with LiDAR system, and we train people, but the question is - how and for what are drones with LiDAR sensors used? Drones with LiDAR sensors are used for various purposes in geodesy, archeology, forestry, mining, construction, agriculture, energy. 👐 They enable quick and accurate terrain recording. Terrain that is difficult to access or dangerous for people. Also, they can fly through vegetation and thus reveal details that are hidden to the naked eye. Some examples of the use of drones with LiDAR sensors are: 🏛 Creation of DEM - digital models of terrain height and surface - DSM, for the purposes of planning, designing, building and maintaining infrastructure facilities. 🗺 Creation of high-resolution and accurate orthophoto maps for the needs of cadastre, architecture, tourism and others. 🛣 Detection and classification of objects in the field such as buildings, roads, bridges, transmission lines, pipelines, etc. ⛏️ Measurement of material volume in landfills, mines, quarries and other locations. 🌳 Discovery of archaeological sites and cultural heritage under the surface of the earth or covered by vegetation. 🏞 Monitoring changes on the ground due to erosion, landslides, floods, fires and other natural influences. 🌿 Assessment of the condition of the forest fund and biomass. #LIDAR #lidarsystem #droneeducation #droneshelp #dronetech #skynomads #onedronehr #awareness #technology

LiDAR vs. Photogrammetry: Which is Better for Vegetation Penetration? 🌳🔍 When it comes to capturing terrain and vegetation data, LiDAR and photogrammetry offer distinct advantages. Let's break down their strengths and weaknesses, especially regarding vegetation penetration. 🌿 LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) 📡 **Strengths:** - **🌲 Penetration through Vegetation:** Uses laser pulses that can reach the ground, even through dense foliage. - **🎯 Precision and Accuracy:** Provides highly accurate 3D measurements. -**🌙 All-Weather Capability:** Effective in various lighting conditions, including nighttime, and less affected by weather. **Weaknesses:** - **💸 Cost:** More expensive to acquire and operate. - **🔧 Complexity:** Requires specialized software and expertise for data processing Photogrammetry 📸 **Strengths:** - **💰 Cost-Effective:** Uses standard cameras and drones, making it cheaper than LiDAR. - **🔍 Detail and Texture:** Provides high-resolution images with detailed textures, perfect for visual assessments. - **👨💻 Ease of Use:** Simpler to use with less specialized training needed. **Weaknesses:** - **🍃 Vegetation Penetration:** Relies on visual light, making it hard to map terrain beneath dense vegetation. - **☀️ Light Dependency:** Requires good lighting conditions and is less effective in low light. - **🌧️ Weather Sensitivity:** Affected by weather conditions like fog, rain, and clouds. Conclusion 🏁 For accurate ground measurements beneath vegetation, **LiDAR** is the go-to choice due to its superior penetration capabilities. For high-resolution surface models and texture detail, **photogrammetry** is a more cost-effective and practical solution. The classification of point cloud datasets to identify distribution wires is useful for identifying vegetation encroachment around power lines. Such workflows are important for preventing fires and power outages and are typically manual, recurring, and labor-intensive. This model is designed to extract distribution wires at the street level. Its predictions for high-tension transmission wires are less consistent with changes in geography as compared to street-level distribution wires. For more of such services like LiDAR powerline classification, we are here to help you with your requirements. If you're new to mapping or GIS, you’ve probably heard the term ‘orthomosaics’ thrown around and are wondering what they are. An orthomosaic is a 'collage' of overlapping photos edited to form one continuous, true-to-scale map. By taking photos from different angles with consistent overlap, you can create a geographically accurate depiction of the area, also known as an orthomosaic! Creating an orthomosaic with Nova is simple. First, collect high-resolution images of your area of interest (follow our data collection tips!). Next, upload your photos to Nova and click ‘Process’. If there are any issues with your data, Nova will let you know, and the MapMosaic plugin can handle the rest– producing a clean, detailed, and accurate map. No technical expertise needed– Nova makes it easy. Want to dive deeper into orthomosaics? Check out our blog “Orthomosaics Explained” or head to Nova and create one yourself! https://lnkd.in/gN75ggt9 #FlyYourFire #GIS #Drones
