💡Career transition can help in self-discovery! When asked what she learned about herself through the process of changing careers and leaving academia, Ashley Ruba, PhD (guest of Ep018) explained that it caused a lot of questions. ‘I didn’t really consider other career options cause no one was presenting anything else to me. And instead it’s like if you don’t become a professor, you’re just a failure’. A common, biased opinion roaming through academic halls, making students feel inadequate when facing the prospects of changing their paths. Ashley then asked herself why does she believe that an academic career is the only career where she can see herself happy or intellectually fulfilled? Which then led to an even bigger question: ‘why am I doing this? Am I just doing this because other people want me to do it?’. In the episode, we cover Ashley’s path to self-discovery and she candidly shares her experiences following her recent Autism diagnosis. Listen to Ep018 featuring Ashley Ruba, PhD, Human Factors Engineer and Career Strategist! 🎧 ❓ How was it for you? Did you also struggle with the feeling of failure when considering career change? Career growth and confidence are directly related. Don’t believe me? Consider this: If you lack the confidence to grow, learn, fail, advocate for yourself, or ask for help, how will you learn the skills you need or prove you’re ready to take the next step? This isn’t an introvert vs extrovert thing. Introverts can be confident, too! The biggest thing I find is holding my career clients back in their journey is a lack of CONFIDENCE, and once we unpack the root of that things tend to move forward for them rapidly. Don’t “fake it til you make it.” Reflect on the reasons behind your lack of confidence and do the inner work to heal that, then you’ll be able to become authentically confident and crush your goals. #UnsolicitedAdvice #confidence #careerCoach Angel Assistance Group, LC

Fear—it’s the #1 reason many professionals stay in roles that drain them. But here’s the thing: Fear isn’t the problem. How you handle it is. When faced with fear, you have two options: 🔄 Stay stuck. “I don’t have the skills.” “It’s too late to pivot.” “What if I fail?” "This isn't going to wokr." The reality is that many people can successfully make a change. I've seen it when I made a career pivot and with my clients. Are they successful overnight? No. Do they drop a few applications and suddenly find what they want? No. But do they make it happen when they *overcome* their fear, turn that fear into taking action, and to work to make the change? 100 percent YES. But it all begins with changing how you look at things. ✨ Reframe to growth. “I can learn what’s needed.” “This is a chance to redefine success.” “What if this leads to something better?” Reframing fear isn’t about ignoring it. It’s about turning fear into fuel. When you face your fears head-on, you unlock clarity and courage that can propel you toward your next step. In the Reboot Your Career work, @MarcelleYeager at @CareerValet and I will teach you practical strategies to move past fear and tackle your career change with confidence. ✨ Fear isn’t your enemy—it’s your guide.
