Strategic Planning | Program Management | Policy | Communication | Partnerships | Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
Article 45(1) of the Constitution of Kenya is explicit that "the family is the natural and fundamental unit of society and the necessary basis of social order, and shall enjoy the recognition and protection of the State". From this constitutional postulation, we now have the National Policy on Family Promotion and Protection launched last week during the International Day of Families. This new policy builds on the National Care Reform Strategy for Children in Kenya 2022-2032, the Children Act 2022 and the National Parenting Training Guidelines and Manual that all emphasize the importance of children growing in safe, happy and sustainable families. Today, more than ever, #children's #safety and #wellbeing need to take precedence in our narrative, planning and policy making. Below is my article on Child protection and Well-being. I wrote it during a challenging time during COVID-19 in Addis Ababa, a special place in the world where I was working then. This article which I recently reviewed is now published. Hope it makes a space for more conversations on children's safety and well-being in schools. Ensuring equitable access to COVID-19 services is crucial, especially for those with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). Thanks to collaboration between HHS OCR, DHS CRCL, FEMA OER, and advocacy from @NHeLP, a compliance review was initiated across 19 states to address language barriers. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act mandates meaningful language access, underscoring the importance of this endeavor during emergencies. Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia, DHS Officer for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, highlights the significance of this effort in promoting inclusivity and accessibility in federally assisted programs. #LanguageAccess #COVID19Response #Equity #CivilRightsAct https://lnkd.in/gMFMfn4Y

Today, we have published a joint report with Helen Bamber Foundation, sharing our experience of supporting young people through the age dispute process: https://lnkd.in/eAPqye_T
