ISO 10300 for strength rating of bevel and hypoid gears was published in year 2023 as third edition. In Part 2 on calculation of surface durability (macropitting), the resulting contact stress increases compared to the previous edition. This is based on recent empirical findings in loaded tooth contact analysis, reflected in the Bevel Gear Factor ZKP, where ZKP=1.20. It is a stress adjustment factor allowing for bevel gear rating using the cylindrical gear allowable contact stress numbers. Furthermore, the work hardening factor Zw, influencing the micropitting durability, has been adapted from ISO 6336-2.
