While we celebrate local retail businesses this month, we'd like to highlight our Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year, Shore Shop Gifts on Isle au Haut. It might take a boat ride to get there, but our island communities are home to great views and amazing small businesses that are worth visiting.

The U.S Small Business Administration (SBA) National Small Business Week recognizes the contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, creating about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. According to data from U.S. SBA , over 97% of all businesses in New Hampshire are small businesses with under 20 employees, 39.6% of small businesses are owned by women, 8.9% are owned by veterans, and 4% are owned by a racial minority. To celebrate Small Business Week, consider supporting small businesses by shopping local, sharing on social media and posting reviews.

“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." – Zig Ziglar
🌟 Let's show our support for small businesses during National Small Business Week! 🌟 Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and they need our support now more than ever. By shopping local, we can help these entrepreneurs thrive and contribute to the growth of our economy. Here are some ways you can support small businesses: 1️⃣ Shop local: Instead of ordering from big online retailers, consider purchasing from local stores and businesses. This not only supports the local economy but also helps create jobs in our community. 2️⃣ Spread the word: Share your positive experiences with local businesses on social media. Write reviews, tag them in your posts, and encourage your friends and family to check them out. Word-of-mouth recommendations can go a long way in helping small businesses grow. 3️⃣ Attend local events: Many small businesses host events, workshops, and pop-up markets. Show your support by attending these events and engaging with the local business community. It's a great way to discover unique products and services while connecting with like-minded individuals. 4️⃣ Buy gift cards: If you can't visit a business right away, consider purchasing gift cards for future use. This provides immediate support to the business and gives you a chance to enjoy their products or services later. 5️⃣ Collaborate with small businesses: If you have a business or offer services, consider collaborating with local businesses. This can be through partnerships, co-marketing initiatives, or even featuring their products in your stores. By working together, we can create a stronger and more resilient small business community. Remember, every purchase and act of support makes a difference. Let's come together as a community and show our love for small businesses during National Small Business Week! ❤️🛍️👩💼👨💼 Acumen IT Greenville Chamber #SupportSmallBusiness #NationalSmallBusinessWeek #YeahThatGreenville

When you shop small, your purchase does more than just acquire a product or service—it supports a dream and makes a significant impact. The 2022 Small Business Economic Impact Study highlights that for every dollar spent at a local business, 68 cents stay within the local community, supporting local families, causes, and other businesses. New Post: What is a Local Chamber of Commerce and Should You Join One? - https://lnkd.in/gTKvDH-B - There are thousands upon thousands of chambers of commerce in communities throughout the U.S., including your local chamber of commerce. There’s a good chance that your local community is represented by one. Moreover, your state and/or industry almost certainly has its own chamber as well. If you haven’t joined a local Chamber of Commerce organization, you might not understand the different benefits these groups offer. Here’s a rundown of exactly what chambers provide and what you should consider when joining one. What Is a Local Chamber of Commerce? A chamber of commerce is a network of local businesses or businesses within a particular niche or industry. The organization works to further the interests of businesses in the area or industry through advocacy, networking opportunities and various other member benefits. Every individual chamber of commerce is completely different. There’s the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a nationwide group that provides resources and advocacy for businesses in a wide array of industries across the country. Then there are statewide organizations, very small groups in local communities and groups that are specific to industries in a particular area. Tom Sullivan, Vice President of Small Business Policy and head of the Small Business Council for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said in a phone interview with Small Business Trends, “All of our local chamber of commerce organizations are so different. But they all provide tremendous value to their members and their communities.” How Do Local Chambers Of Commerce Help? For example, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce aims to help its members in a few different ways. First, they provide online resources aimed at educating members about various aspects of running a business, from finding office space to reaching customers online. Then, they host in-person events in cities throughout the country. Specifically, their Summit event is slated for October 16 and 17 in Washington D.C. The event features more than 25 expert speakers and educational programs designed specifically for small and growing businesses. Finally, the group represents the interests of its members in front of Congress and the White House. They fight for businesses in terms of things like trade and access to affordable healthcare. These functions often look a bit different on a local scale. Your hyper local group probably is not in front of Congress on a daily basis. But the general idea is the same. Many local chambers do represent the interest of their members in front of city councils or other local agencies. Many also host local networking events or promotions designed to spur business growth in the area. And members can often access helpful resources, expertise from other members and even discounts and exclusive opportunities from local vendors. Should Your Small Business Join a Local Cham

Passionate Franchise Owner 🍫🍪 of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Great American Cookies, and Marble Slab Creamery. Turning sweet dreams into reality! 🚀
“If y’all supported your friends’ small businesses, the way you support Stanley mugs and Starbucks we all would be set for the next five years!” Being a small business owner is not easy! I worked three months straight without a day off just to serve the community and learn what their needs are. A lot of us business owners are struggling with high interest rates from the government (mine is 11.5%) & a lot of us are seeing low sales numbers because of our economy. We, small business owners, could really use the support. Before you spend $100 on a Stanley Coffee Mug or a $10 order from Starbucks everyday. Think about the small business owners that risk their savings, home & life to try to make it. Think about how your $100 towards a small business will go towards the owners first home to raise a family, their kids soccer team, their life in general. We’re here & we’re not invincible. #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinessbigdreams #smallbiz #smallbusiness #supportlocal
