My job at Wynisco Inc. is to pick the candidates most likely to succeed in getting a job and invest in them. Like many other VCs, I might have set criteria based on previous winners' experience. Once in a while, there comes a guy who shatters my playbook and forces me to rethink my strategy. Mind you, I have taken over 5,000 calls in the last 5 years with candidates and helped secure full-time employment for over 400 candidates. I can pick a winner in 5 minutes. This candidate was one of those who was initially rejected by the Wynisco team due to a lack of experience, but he persisted for a few months with me, and I finally relented and gave him admission based on a pay-per-performance basis, pretty much knowing that this was a sunk cost. This candidate got 3 offers in this market. Mind you, there are candidates we are marketing who are much superior technically and experienced, but they are not able to crack it. They do not have the hunger and drive that this guy has. Even companies can see through that. Once again, determination wins against talent and experience. Follow Sachin Rajgire Wynisco Inc.

"Founders are always the first salespeople" I didn't expect it to be (THIS) hard... Before launching Smart Role, I knew it would be challenging. Suddenly, I’m the entire sales team: SDR,BDR,AE,CSM,AM, while still managing everything else in the business! Adapting to this role has forced me to rethink my approach. Too often I was feeling too pushy or second-guessing my move. Which was really frustrating because obviously I needed to improve my acquisition. But I didn’t want to be uncomfortable… Until one day I saw the reality. No one will magically do my job. And we don’t have the time to sit back. Otherwise, Smart Role would just be a failed project... We needed traction, and we needed it now. So I’ve learned to take risks, test different approaches, and stop overanalyzing. I realized that sometimes it’s better to act first, and apologize later, rather than wait for permission… Today, I’m so grateful for this uncomfortable position I was in. Again, entrepreneurship is way harder than what we usually see on LinkedIn, but it’s what makes it amazing. And this time, they are talking about a shift that is often seen in sales but was also a big learning curve for Carrie at the start of her entrepreneur journey.... Shifting from a supportive sales role (an account a manager, a client partner or a sales engineer, etc.) to being an account executive and/or entrepreneur who needed to drive partnership growth. Now, most companies just expect good AMs/CPs/SEs to be rockstar AEs. But this shift is so nuanced and there is little training or support. Most of these roles are much more reactive and less proactive and oftentimes, these roles never have to prospect - which takes a lot of time and effort to get right! I never want my employees to feel like I did. Earlier in my career I felt trapped in the rat race and I lacked purpose. It was all about KPI's and cold calling. Rigid long hours, with lots of client drinks after. It was exhausting. That experience showed me exactly what NOT to prioritise when I started JBM. Instead, I've always hired people into JBM who feel that recruitment is not just about hitting targets and making commission, but instead is a chance to have a genuine impact. Sure our day job might be placing talent into roles, but the PURPOSE is to change people's lives through getting them amazing opportunities. This also means playing our own small part in building Startups that are changing the world. And hopefully change perceptions of recruitment in the process! Having a North Star focused on impact instead of chasing money is so much more rewarding... Plus when you have a team that are really passionate about that mission and determined to succeed, the revenue will follow!

On the 30th January 2017, I knocked on My MD’s door and told him that I was resigning…. After the panic attack on the side of the motorway, I knew it was time to move on. It wasn’t that I couldn’t handle the job, I was already proving that I could ensure the team hit the figures easily. It was the constant battle of managing the team above me and the different agendas they all had. This was supposed to be my dream job. Group Sales Director was the job title I’d strived for all my career and here I was, 18 months later handing it all back and moving on to something else. I had about £8k in the bank and worked out that if I lived off supernoodles and spent less time at the pub, I could probably survive 4-5 months. I’d always known I was gifted at sales as I somehow managed to put less effort in than the rest of the team, whilst rarely falling off the top of the leader board, mentoring colleagues to success or winning sales person of the year. I wanted to find a way of showing others how to do the same things I’d done and how they too could make a career out of sales. 7 years later and I’m on my third business (1st merger, 2nd management buy out) and on track for one of the best and most fun years of my life running Lancashires first full service sales agency! If you’re unhappy in your job, struggling mentaly at work or just dream of bigger things. Get the plans on motion and make them happen! I’m an incredibly average lad from Blackburn that had an above average work ethic and got kicked out of 6th form after my first year. I tried to be incredibly intentional with my BD efforts for my Fractional COO business. I didn't want to waste a second. So, random outreach wasn't interesting to me. That was a numbers game I didn't want to play. Instead, I wanted to find companies where there was a good chance it could become a client. I looked for companies: 1. In my niche 2. Likely to have the budget 3. Gaps on their team in my function (e.g., they didn't have a COO of Head of Ops) 4. Were open to fractionals (had hired them in the past or currently contracted with them) 5. Where I had warm connections from my network I'd then do outreach, introduce myself, comment on something the company was doing, and build a relationship. How do you make the best of your time doing BD?

Yes, thats me 13 years ago!! A year into my first role in sales 🙈 (oh how I miss that jaw line! 😩😄) As someone who has been in the sales industry for over a decade, it has always been a goal of mine to eventually step out of my comfort blanket to start a company of my own. I’m happy to share that I have started as the Director of “Unite Sales Group”! It is now officially live and open for business!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 The goal is to completely revelotionsie the face to face market space!! I want to show that it is possible to build a massive organization that clients can go to to help them grow their customer base, with out over working staff 6 days a week, 12 hour days, no minimum earning garantee, selling them a dream, terrible bonus/commission structure and completely taking away their social life and time with their loved ones. Companies that do the above, is what’s gives our industry a bad name. Thats why in everything we do, ethics will be at its core. To start off with, USG will be working with companies across 3 sectors, Braodband/telecomunications, Energy, and Fundrasing. Being fired from first job in a month was the best thing that happened to me. I was a natural communicator so getting fired from my first job in sales came as a shock. I was called in the evening with my company briefcase that I was so proud to get , asked to hand it over and not come the next day. That’s it . No reason given . No sweetie talk before firing. I was devastated. I had just begun my career and I get fired in a month. I could not sleep that night and the next few nights. I was dejected , angry , wanted to hit back. ✔️ I took that anger to master sales ✔️ Read every book I could get ✔️ Invested in audio CDs that I played again and again In my next job as product as a product executive, I created record sales , got promoted to branch manager leading a sales team . We broke all records and became a role model branch . I got promoted as regional manager and also was asked to train all sales teams. I went on to head marketing and sales in that organisation. As head of marketing , I scaled the business from 10 to over 120 branches and feature in top 10 in the industry. Getting fired had shaped me to become the best in my field. When I did my first startup money ran out , we had to pivot , the same experience . Started from the scratch built multiple ventures , wrote books , made 10 short films , built communities.. I have been fired many times in my career , sometimes I have fired myself. ( Every time I get into a comfort zone I fire me) Getting fired is not the end of life , I always see it as a beginning of a new exciting chapter. I have always come out better, it’s never been a waste of time . Building a social commerce platform and onboarding thousands of merchants was a learning experience that helped me support building a health care brand. Failing in my first sales job taught me the invaluable lesson of listening with empathy. We are conditioned that failure is bad .It is not. As an entrepreneur the mindset to learn from failures is most critical. Many don’t even begin because of the fear of failure. As my school friend from silicon valley who has done multiple startup’s tells me “failure is a badge of honour.” If you are fired and you will be sometime in your life , don’t give up , use it as a stepping stone to success. And don't let your fears stop you from living your dreams. P.S - I was super scared of falling when I started cycling , I cycled anyway and I did fall many times , I got back to cycle because I had discovered the joy of wind on my face.
