📣 Resources for applying to the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology!! ✨ Hi everyone, Thank you so much to everyone who shared my previous post about DClinPsy application resources. Below you will find a google sheets document that contains over 100+ support groups, mentor schemes, resources and books recommended for anyone applying to the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. It is a live document which I will try to keep updated. It has also been locked to editing to prevent others from tampering with the information inside. Therefore, if you know of any resources which I have not yet added, please let either myself, Dr Jade Weston or Helen Ross know and we'll add it on as soon as possible. Jade initially started this document to support members of the Care Experienced Psychology Network (CEPN) that she has founded. This group aims to support qualified and aspiring mental health professionals who have experience with social care (care leavers, carers, adoptees, looked after children, those who have experienced kinship care and more) and/or support those in care. However, the CEPN recognises that individuals may experience disadvantage at multiple intersections, and therefore, have compiled a list of resources to offer holistic support. While there are resources geared to support all aspiring psychologists, we have also gathered those specific to supporting individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, individuals who are LGBT+, individuals with disabilities, and those who face financial hardship. We want this document to be free and accessible to everyone who needs it. However, if you do share it, please don't forget to credit the CEPN! We want more people to hear about what the CEPN is trying to do. Finally, best of luck to everyone applying this year! https://lnkd.in/er67rMv7 #DClinPsy #DClinPsyApplications #ApplicationSeason #DClinPsyResources #DClinPsySupport #AspiringClinicalPsychologists

Excerpt: “Many autistic people who manage to find employment face all sorts of issues when they get into the workplace. Most of these issues are because of the discriminatory attitudes and practices they have to put up with. Government report A recently published UK Government report highlighted a number of these issues. One major issue The Buckland Review of Autism Employment found relates to being overqualified. Autistic graduates are the most likely to be overqualified for the jobs they have, and this is something They are not getting jobs that are commensurate with their qualifications, abilities, and experience, and this can persist throughout their careers. Why? The reasons why autistic people are less likely to get promoted to positions that are commensurate to their competence are many. I was listening recently to an interview with Adam Grant on the Diary Of A CEO podcast with the entrepreneur and multimillionaire Steven Bartlett, and I started thinking about what he had to say might impact people with autism. The professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, who specialises in organisational psychology, is a best-selling author whose alma mater include Harvard College and the University of Michigan. During the interview, he spoke about how people who talk a lot in meetings are more likely to be promoted than their less talkative peers. This is despite the fact that a lot of these motormouths aren’t particularly competent leaders. Being able to talk a good game is not the same as being able to play one.”

I recently came across an article which examines how psychologists are progressively teaming up with different professions to resolve major cultural issues, like youth psychological wellness and police violence. These partnerships plan to speed up progress here by utilizing the ability of different professionals. By cooperating, psychologists and others are better prepared to handle complex difficulties and implement solutions. This cooperative methodology signifies a developing pattern in the field, where interdisciplinary participation is becoming vital in resolving pressing social issues. This is relevant to me as being a student in psychology and business, when the psychology is open to collaborate with other professions, it becomes easier for me to progress in my field of study. It is interesting how psychologists are expanding their focus and partnering with other professions to broaden their base.

Completely agreed , there is lack of awareness that too at the greater scale about forensic psychology and its importance. Psychology has its roots for a long time and it will always spread , forensic psychology is another branch of psychology that has been playing an important and crucial role for quite some time and yet people ridicule it on a daily basis. As a forensic psychologist myself, I too hear things like why the subject even exists or why it is important when in fact a lot of knowledge from it has been taken and is applied to various domains. It's really heartbreaking and sad . It's really a high time to spread awareness regarding the importance of forensic psychology. #forensicpsychology #forensics #forensicpsychologists
Recently, I encountered an incident that left a profound impact on me. It occurred during a course where a highly educated individual, with an impressive array of degrees, was participating. When one of the attendees inquired whether the topic being discussed could be addressed by a forensic psychologist, this individual responded with a derisive laugh stating "I don't have any knowledge about Forensic psychologists, I believe that Forensic and psychology are entirely different disciplines." As a forensic psychologist, experiences like these cut deep. They serve as stark reminders that, even among the most educated, there remains a significant lack of awareness regarding a field that intricately marries the realms of law and psychology. It's disheartening to witness how frequently such incidents occur, highlighting the pressing need for greater understanding and recognition of our discipline within society. Forensic psychology is a vital and dynamic field that plays a crucial role in our legal system. It bridges the gap between law and psychology, utilizing psychological principles to address legal issues, such as criminal behavior, witness testimony, and the evaluation of offenders and victims. Forensic psychologists contribute significantly to the pursuit of justice, providing valuable insights and assessments that can influence legal decisions. To foster greater awareness about forensic psychology, it's essential that we continue to educate and inform individuals about the discipline's significance. By doing so, we can dispel misconceptions, encourage respectful dialogue, and ultimately ensure that the contributions of forensic psychologists are acknowledged and valued in our society. It's a field that deserves recognition for its profound impact on both the legal and psychological aspects of our lives. #ForensicPsychology #LegalPsychology #Awareness #PsychologyInLaw
