Hiring Solutions in Action: Because of excessively long hiring timelines, many applicants to Nevada County, CA positions accepted private sector employment offers before the county could complete the hiring process. Setting a 60-day recruitment goal, conducting process mapping, and consolidating final staff approval helped the county fill open positions. So far, the new process has saved the county a cumulative 99 years in staff time. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gsH53MaW #GFOA #localgov #workforce #hiring #workforcesolutions

Law Enforcement resources are consistently thin. Evidence of this is just about every department seems to be actively #hiring. Anytime a job is offering a signing bonus, one can assume they are having trouble recruiting for said position. This is also the case for LE. Toward the end of my LE career, hiring was so difficult, I saw and felt the effects of my department lowering the standards and turning a blind eye to behavior, competence, effort etc because they "needed the bodies". What does this mean for the future of LE in the shot and medium term? LE is depended on to respond to calls for service. Lately I have heard from a lot of people who don't understand or know why LE response is so delayed. #Oakalnd #BayArea #Portland #losangeles #etcetcetc I think at a minimum, LE agencies need to look at how to best utilize the resources they have and certainly need to look at how technology can create more and better efficiencies. Thoughts? #lawenforcement #lawenforcementtraining #technology

Data Pragmatist, practical + theatrical UK GDPR & FOI trainer & consultant. Not GDPR certified (no-one is). Available for hire online or in-person.
Normally, I post jobs on my DPO Jobs feed but I think this one needs wider circulation for two reasons. First, as with the recruitment of non-executives, the fact that the Information Commissioner's Office is recruiting an interim Chief Executive is a sign that those on the inside think that the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill is coming and needs infrastructure to support it. Stop wallowing in denial; change is on the way. Second, the Commissioner's Office has many excellent staff, but the higher you go, the more incompetent it becomes. We all know how interims work: whoever gets this has a strong chance of being the permanent post-holder, and we need someone in the role with real organisational flair and genuine people skills. The Information Commission will be around long after John Edwards has thankfully departed, and the CEO needs to be part of the future, not a relic from the past. So if you are someone or know someone with genuine leadership experience who wants to take on the Mother of All Challenges, look at this job advert. Ask yourself: could I do this? https://lnkd.in/et3EYu8h

Top 5 reasons to consider a career as a court reporter. ✨ 1. Requires No College Degree. Court reporting school, community college, or technical school – all costs a fraction of the average 4-year degree. Online classes are also an option. 2. Recession-Proof. As long as there is a legal system, court reporting will be in demand. 3. Flexible Work Schedule. Court reporters are often Independent Contractors so they choose when and how often they work. Because they choose their assignments, they may also choose in-person or remote jobs, allowing them to work from home. 4. Outstanding Salary Potential. Earning $100,000+ is common for those who work on big cases or full-time. 5. Rewarding Work. Meaningfulness at work is a top job characteristic that leads to high motivation and high job satisfaction. As the person responsible for preserving the record, court reporting is very fulfilling. And, of course, you get a front-row seat to the most scandalous cases in our court systems. . #courtreportercareer #nocollegedegreeneeded #recessionproofjob #flexibleworkschedule #highsalarypotential #jobsatisfaction
