When choosing a Contractor or Public Adjuster make sure you take some time to vet them. A quick Google search, and verifying licensing/bonding information can save you a ton of headaches in the future. Ask for references, and make sure they’ve worked in your area before. Codes, statutes & laws can vary from state to state, and you don’t want your property to be the first hurricane claim they’ve ever worked.
Hiring a Public Adjuster After Hurricane Helene? Not all Adjusters or Adjusting firms are created equal. Here's What to Consider: - Verify Credentials: Ensure they are licensed and certified in your - state. - Experience Counts: Look for adjusters with experience in hurricane damage claims. - Transparent Fees: Clarify their fee structure before signing anything. A typical fee in emergency situations is 10% of your settlement. - Local Expertise: Adjusters familiar with your area will better understand the specifics of local policies and building codes. -Reviews & Reputation: Check online reviews and ask for references from past clients. -Communication Skills: They should keep you updated and explain complex insurance terms clearly. Hiring a trusted public adjuster can ensure your claim gets the attention it deserves. Take time to choose wisely! With Hurricane Helene blazing a path in the Gulf, even though South Florida isn’t in its direct path, small businesses must prepare for the indirect effects. Here are some critical steps to take to safeguard your business: 1. Secure Your Premises – Protect windows with shutters or plywood, clear outdoor areas of any loose items, and ensure your building is structurally secure. 2. Back Up Important Data – Ensure that all critical business data is backed up to the cloud or offsite storage to prevent loss from power outages or damage. 3. Review Insurance Coverage – Check your business insurance policy to understand what’s covered in the event of hurricane-related damage, and consider flood insurance if applicable. 4. Create an Emergency Plan – Develop a communication and operational plan for employees and customers, ensuring everyone knows what steps to take before, during, and after the storm. 5. Stay Updated – Monitor local weather channels and government advisories to stay informed on hurricane updates and any potential changes in its path. By preparing now, you can minimize the impact of the storm and ensure your business bounces back quickly. #HurricanePreparedness #SmallBusinessSafety #StaySafe #blackowned #blackownedbusinesses #supportblackbusinesses #supportourcommunity #sofloblackpages #shopblackownedbusinesses
