SCALA Executive Director Chris Clowes has an extensive background working both with and for 3PL operations. He is frequently engaged in 3PL tender projects with our SCALA clients and also facilitates our rapidly-growing SCALA Best Practice Forum for small and medium 3PLs so he knows his subject! Chris sat down recently with Kate Jones from Iron Mountain and Tom Rice from Astro Lighting for a fascinating debate around the big question in logistics operations - should you stay in-house or outsource to a 3PL? It was a fascinating (and surprisingly amicable!) discussion and is well worth a listen. You can access the podcast below, and if you would like further information on how SCALA can help you with that decision-making process, please get in touch through our Linked In page or the SCALA website. #3PL #supplychain #logistics #bestpractice

Great job today Jason Breault with Eric Wilson on his IBF Demand Planning podcast. As I'm working and networking with companies, your responses in this interview are 100% accurate and should be the expectation going forward for practitioners in the planning sphere. A particular insight I see shifting as well was your observation about outsourcing some planning and forecasting responsibilities. I'm not seeing this in large organizations per se, but it is an enormous opportunity that I think is gaining steam in fast growing organizations that need to stabilize their business but don't yet have the capital to put a lot of resources in staffing and technology. This is something my organization has been investigating. With the right contract structure in place, fractionally outsourcing these responsibilities can be a HUGE value driver and growth enabler for companies recently founded with great products and adoption in the marketplace. Plus, when the company has the resources to put in place, those resources are starting with a great foundation and not from ground zero. Too often planning, inventory optimization, and service are huge drains on companies with lots of potential. This should absolutely be something companies solve for by any means necessary. Sharing this with my network, give Eric and Jason a listen. They do great work. Reach out if you or anyone you know needs support to improve your planning and forecasting processes. https://lnkd.in/gKWTsZwj
