“We are often now being asked to power sophisticated data sets about how the world around us works. That’s important if we’re going to get robots to interact with the world around us. But the data is still lacking. Even if you believe we’re still far off from AGI, there will be advancements in the next few years with embodied agents able to use robotic arms or hands around a physical environment.” The Wall Street Journal sat down with Scale Field CTO, Vijay Karunamurthy to discuss Scale’s AI strategy and how we plan to deploy our newly raised capital in the AI arms race. He also discusses the role of Scale’s data foundry to advance GenAI and AGI. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gbquu_pc

Takeaways from day 1 of #GenAISummit, San Francisco 2024: -It's quite clear, it's not if AI will play a role, it's what role do you want it to play in your world. -For advance, multi-functional AI to properly work, you'll need to provide a lot of confidential information- whether that is your own or the clients -Security/confidentiality remains a concern -Proper prompts and regularly authenticating will always be critical -There are a lot of start ups popping up. The VC and angel investing funds are pouring in. -Perhaps not surprisingly, the value propositions are eerily similar - to paraphrase: 'AI will do the things you don't want to do but much faster and more accurately.' -I anticipate a lot of AI companies with super bowl commercials next season. The majority of those will be dissolved or merged within the next couple years. Side note: the robots are coming. Interesting to see the stat that the cost of humanoid robots has dropped 98% in the last 20 years from $1.5m to just $30k! No doubt, given the decreasing cost and the increasing capabilities, more are coming.

https://lnkd.in/gVmKa3qX What stands out for me in this story? 1) Mistral has collected via its funding rounds, to date, a diverse set of investors with deep pockets - a couple based in Silicon Valley in the States, and several based in Europe. I think this is a healthy sign for the business. 2) Arthur Mensch's claim Mistral possesses a highly efficient development process ("[Mistral] launched its first AI model with a team of just 10 people, spending less than $500,000 on training costs [Mensch] said), if the efficiency continues as the business scales, should be a big plus. 3) What could be better than Mensch predicting profitability for the business before the end of the year? #mistral
