The SKYLIFT (TM) Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft can take off, hover, and land vertically. With SKYLIFT (TM) this is achieved through the use of thrust duct vectoring, which is the ability to manipulate the direction of the thrust from its engine(s) or motor(s) to control the attitude or angular velocity of the aircraft. This means no propellers or rotors are required on the aircraft.
Most other VTOL aircraft in development are essentially just alternative fuel helicopters as they rely on rotors for lift and maneuverability.
The SKYLIFT (TM) VTOL aircraft uses the principle of thrust vectoring, where the direction of the engine’s thrust is manipulated to control the vehicle’s movement. It can perform various maneuvers not available to conventional-engine aircraft and in a manner conducive to urban living.
Helicopters on the other hand use rotating wings, or rotors, to generate lift and control movement. Helicopters are much slower and less fuel-efficient than fixed-wing aircraft. They also require complex mechanical systems to control the rotor blades, which leads to higher maintenance costs.
Finally, there is the voluminous noise associated with mechanical rotors that make urban usage a substantive nuisance. hashtag
