💡 Aviation Word of The Day - TRIJET: 🔹A jet aircraft powered by 3 engines 🔹The 3-engine setup provides redundancy and improved performance compared to twin-engine aircraft, especially during takeoff and climb-out 🔹Also, unlike twinjets, trijets are not required to land immediately at the nearest suitable airport if one engine fails 🔹 One of the most famous trijets is the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, which was known for its reliability and advanced features

If only this aircraft were offered with an alternative powertrain not reliant on AvGas I think it would, quite literally, be flying off the shelf. When 'Scope Clause' became the 'Stop Cause' ! #E175-E2 #MRJ/Spacejet Summary: "The scope clause limits the use of regional jets with an MTOW over 86,000 lb (39,000 kg). The E175-E2 has an MTOW of 98,120 Ib (44,600 kg), which is way over the limit. The Mitsubishi SpaceJet M90 faced a similar problem, with its MTOW being 94,358 Ib (42,800 kg), which is also well over the limit". Can you identify this airplane? ✈️ Clues in the caption: This aircraft is a long-range wide-body passenger plane equipped with four Rolls-Royce Trent 500 engines. It holds the distinction of being one of the longest aircraft, measuring an impressive 247 feet or 75.4 meters! Ninety-seven of this specific aircraft variant was manufactured and put into operation. From a recent trip. What do these two aircraft have in common, besides taking peculiar people to peculiar places? 👀 Both the 737-600 and the 747SP have larger tails than their original base models to counter assymetric thrust in an engine-out scenario. The 736 has the new, big engines on the original small -200 fuselage, and the 747SP has the original engines on a shorter fuselage.

The Meyers/Aero Commander 200 is a rugged, fast, and comfortable single-engine airplane with a hint of P-51 Mustang genes in its appearance. Known for its solid construction and record-setting speed, it emerged during the 1960s aviation boom, when nearly 9,000 light singles and twins were produced yearly. Grumman Aerospace and North American Rockwell entered this market by acquiring existing aircraft designs, with Aero Commander purchasing the Meyers 200 type certificate in 1966. Despite its impressive performance and unique features, including nearly 360-degree pilot visibility and a 180-knot cruise speed, production ceased by 1972 due to high manufacturing costs. Though only a limited number were built, many Meyers/Aero Commander 200 planes remain active, known for their safety and performance. The Meyers 200D variant set several speed records and offers an exhilarating flying experience. The final model, the Interceptor 400, added a 400 hp turboprop engine, boosting its speed even further. Despite its production challenges, the Meyers/Aero Commander 200 series continues to captivate aviation enthusiasts with its blend of speed, strength, and timeless design.
