The European Parliament has just adopted the #EuropeanHealthDataSpace (#EHDS), a key pillar for the #EuropeanHealthUnion. The #agreement reached is of utmost 🔝 importance for a better healthcare for citizens, for a transformative data-driven research and innovation, and for the development of a more personalised medicine.  Understanding this groundbreaking regulation and the health data scenario it will open is crucial for researchers, innovators, patients, policymakers and for society as a whole. Biocat, BioRegion of Catalonia, ScanBalt BioRegion, Council of European BioRegions - CEBR and Health Cluster Portugal -the EDAH - European Data Space in Health project consortium-, with the support of the #FlemishGovernment, Sciensano and Sitra, organise a #debate in the framework of the #BelgiumPresidency of the Council of the European Union. The activity, a side event of the 28-29 May High-Level Conference on #PersonalisedMedicine organised by the Flemish Government, will update the state of the EHDS, connect it to EU-wide initiatives like TEHDAS, EPPermed or 1Million Genomes, and discuss scenarios of EHDS implementation, with examples and good practices at Member State or Regional level, highlighting opportunities for advancing personalised treatments in both public and private research areas. The panellists are top representatives of European Institutions, industry, academia, healthcare and policymaking. This week GLOHRA Director Nora Anton advocated for continued government support of global health initiatives in the sub-committee (Unterausschuss) meeting on global health. Here's some key highlights: 🔸 Importance of support for interdisciplinary research: Continued governmental incentives are crucial to promote research that crosses disciplinary and sector boundaries, fostering career development and collaboration. 📣Today we are publishing the first four reports from our NEED project. 🕑 A report proposing a framework for assessing unmet patient and societal needs ; 🕒 A report on the applicability of the framework to rare diseases; 🕘 An assessment of unmet health-related needs in patients with malignant melanoma; 🕢 An assessment of unmet health-related needs in patients with Crohn's disease. « NEED paves the way for aligning health solutions with the real needs of patients and society, ushering in a new era of a more needs-driven health system. » This work has been carried out by an incredibly dedicated team, of which I am proud to be a part: Irina Cleemput Muriel L. Are multi-stakeholder and cross-sector collaborations in healthcare sustainable? 💡 This topic was greatly discussed at today’s international Tour de Health'24 conference with inspiring knowledge sharing and networking between high-level governmental, non-governmental and other healthcare stakeholders from Denmark and the 13 Danish health diplomacy countries 🌎 At the venue of Danish Industry, the conference programme featured thought provoking keynote speeches, panel debates, and breakout sessions. “Are public-private strategic partnerships in Life Science sustainable?”, Maria Kristiansen, Professor and Head of Center, University of Copenhagen, discussed during her keynote followed by a panel debate on whether international multi-stakeholder and sector collaboration in healthcare is sustainable or not 🌱 Diana Arsovic, CEO, Danish Life Science Cluster , introduced the Danish public-private partnership Lighthouse Life Science to address chronic diseases followed by a panel debate with selected stakeholders who represent the coalition of the partnership. The panelists discussed the potential of the Lighthouse Life Science to catalyze innovative and equitable action on healthy weight and mental health while simultaneously drive economic growth.
