We are delighted to team up with hub South West Scotland to deliver a series of workshops for SMEs on sustainability in the construction supply chain. These workshops involving Tier 1 construction companies supported by Turner & Townsend will inform SMEs on what is expected of them and the legislation driving sustainability deeper into supply chains. Events are scheduled at: Dumfries and Galloway College on 10th February supported by Morgan Sindall Construction South Lanarkshire College on 20th February supported by Morrison Construction Further dates are planned. I had the privilege of attending the Glenigan Construction Forecast for 2025 today. The event brought together industry representatives to discuss the future of construction, with key takeaways including: 🔮 8% Growth in Underlying Starts – The new report predicts an 8% increase in projects valued under £100m next year, with a further rise to 10% in 2026. 🌍 Sustainability Focus – Sustainability will remain a key priority, providing a strong platform for further conversion to HVO in construction to help meet emission targets. With around 27 million homes in the UK requiring some form of retrofit, there is a pressing need for creative strategies to enhance our initiatives. Today, I had the opportunity to attend an insightful conference dedicated to this topic. Rachael Owens, Co-Director of the National Retrofit Hub, provided essential perspectives on the strategy and implementation of large-scale retrofitting. Her knowledge and commitment to a sustainable future are genuinely motivating. James Traynor from ECD Architects Ltd presented their remarkable large-scale retrofit projects, emphasizing the significant influence that careful design and execution can have on our built environment. It is clear that collaboration, innovation, and resolve are crucial in tackling this significant challenge.
