If you have one min, watch this - one of the most powerful campaigns that I have come across in a while. Language matters. What we do and what we say affects the thinking of our kids - whether we are reinforcing stereotypes unknowingly or empowering them to believe. I do enjoy a coffee often and better with a DEI Ally ... 💭 I had the best time with Brien Convery on Coffee with Convery. It was a pleasure to have time to talk about the stuff that really matters in how we can create safe environments and about perspectives. My only downside ... there was so much we talked about and connected with pre-recording! Hopefully a part 2 session in the near future 🔮 Please follow Brien and Coffee With Convery and let me know what you think or need to discuss more ... yes slide into my DMs if you feel more comfortable to ask. 🔗 Check out this podcast in the comments below. #dei #wellbeing #mentalhealth #psychologicalsafety #idea #coffeechats

The Dream Gap is still a reality for young girls, but new research shows that the challenges don't lie in girls lacking self-confidence or drive — the gaps often occur in the world around them. Despite progress made towards gender equality, stereotypes and societal biases still exist that can affect a girl's trajectory and future choices. That's where the Barbie Dream Gap Project comes in. This global mission is dedicated to closing the gap by challenging gender stereotypes and helping undo the biases that hold girls back from reaching their full potential. Check out the project's mission and impact in this video: https://lnkd.in/eigAWCm2 #equity #dreams #genderequality #breakthebias

C'mon Barbie, let's go… Make a new world, full of equality. Five years ago, Mattel launched a campaign called Dream Gap, which highlights the cruel fact that girls dream freely about their future until the age of five, but afterwards, they increasingly give up on dream jobs or dream positions because they see that this is how the world works. The world does indeed work a bit like this, one of the most tangible proofs being the #GenderPayGap, which makes the situation more unfair for women around the world, both at work and at home. Among other things, WeAreOpen also fights to work together to end the gender pay gap and to ensure that pay truly measures talent. And of course, we fight for the girls as well. After all, how will someone become a leader if they give up on it at age five? Join us in our fight and download our Action Plan for closing the gender pay gap. 💪 https://lnkd.in/d3nARYce #WeAreOpen #NyitottakVagyunk #MindTheGenderGap #GenderPayGap

#Barbie’s latest campaign sheds light on the Dream Gap, revealing how children, especially girls, start doubting their potential due to gender stereotypes from as young as 5. This isn’t just a girls' issue; it’s a societal challenge that requires everyone’s involvement, including boys and men. Together, we can dismantle these barriers. By fostering an environment where all children, regardless of gender, support each other in dreaming big and achieving bigger, we make strides toward closing the Dream Gap. It's about empowering every child to see beyond stereotypes, nurturing a generation that believes anything is possible. Let’s unite in this mission to ensure every child grows up knowing they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Join us in closing the Dream Gap and building a world of limitless potential for all. #Empowerment #GenderEquality #Inclusion #FierceFemales #DreamGap #Barbie https://lnkd.in/ef9STs_4

There has been much engagement around my last post on Emma Hinchliffe's article in Fortune about the low percentage of Fortune 500 CEOs who are women. Some of the comments point to the validity of this metric to measure the success of gender equality, others asked if women maybe don't want to be CEOs. This metric is not the end-all-be-all; rather, it is a symptom of a systemic flaw we have not yet corrected. In my post, I called out the need to fund more women-led companies, so we have a broader pool of female executives from which to pull. I also called out investing in younger generations to keep them engaged in leadership, business, and STEM. And finally, to amplify the voices of existing female leaders to give girls a role model. You can't be what you don't see. This 2019 video from Mattel, Inc. as a part of a #Barbie campaign to #closethedreamgap surfaced in my feed after my post; I believe it was from Viola Davis, who shares some incredible content on Instagram if you aren't following her! It is five years old, but it speaks to some systemic issues that get us to data points like representation on lists like the Fortune 500. I love this video--well done, BBDO Worldwide- and the campaign. Would it be stronger with a clearer call to action and more sustained engagement? It has some great partners involved already, and I would love to see more from the tech and business worlds. https://lnkd.in/emw3mceC

Friday Musings... When I saw this, I was moved, touched, and inspired. So many in our corporate world are demonstrating this behavior on a daily basis -- this bias is very real. Sure, we know it's not right, and we often just stand or even ignore what is happening -- when we should be doing something about it. But guys, what are WE doing about it? Two suggestions: 1) Be in COMPLETE integrity about your own actions, and if you find any piece of this bias in your own speaking, get to work on it and be intentional about transforming it! For many it was how they were raised, but it is not who you are - we can do a whole lot better. 2) Say something when you see this happening in front of you. It's as simple as saying to someone who is unaware of what they are doing, "that doesn't sound right, is there another way you could phrase that?" - see if the person you're talking to "catches on"! If someone is way out of line and you are a witness to their actions, be courageous and let someone know what you are seeing. We don't have to wait around for those under the oppression of this type of bias to step forward on their own. For me, when I saw these young girls articulating this message so powerfully in the Dream Gap Project video by Barbie, I felt it more deeply than I ever have before. I know from the conversations I have with the women in my life that this is a very real and correctable problem that we can remedy. #barbie #dreamgapproject #hypewomen #women #wellbeing #leadership #menandwomen #genderbias
