🎙️Second quarter 2024: Solid strategic progress 🎙️ “I am pleased with another good quarter and strong overall results, with new operating assets contributing positively. Our commitment to grow renewables is evident and I am happy to see construction of our new projects progressing well,” says CEO Terje Pilskog. 📊☀️ In the second quarter, Scatec reported proportionate revenues of NOK 1.5 billion (5.8 billion), with an EBITDA of NOK 951 million (1,379 million). Power production revenues were driven by new plants in operation in South Africa, Brazil and Pakistan and recognition of reserve market revenues in the Philippines. Scatec’s power plants generated 995 GWh in the quarter, up from 873 GWh during the same period last year on a proportionate basis, with revenues of NOK 1.05 billion (1.2 billion). EBITDA ended at 873 million (992 million), a 38% increase adjusted for divestments. The projects under construction in South Africa and Botswana are progressing well. The D&C segment delivered NOK 470 million of D&C revenues, with a gross margin of 36%, including a contingency release for the hybrid plant Kenhardt. The underlying gross margin for the two projects under construction was 10%. Additionally, Scatec is starting construction of the Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur solar projects in Tunisia, with a total capacity of 120 MW (60 MW each), in partnership with Aeolus SAS, part of the Japanese conglomerate Toyota Tsusho Group. Including Tunisia, Scatec has already committed NOK 590 million of equity investments to projects under construction, compared to the full year target to invest 500-750 million of equity. Thank you and congrats to the entire Scatec team of #changemakers. https://lnkd.in/dxzqzDcD #renewbleenergy #improvingourfuture #StrategicProgress

IndiGrid, India's leading power sector infrastructure investment trust (InvIT), has forged a strategic partnership with British International Investment (BII), the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund (Norfund), and Techno Electric & Engineering Co. Ltd. to advance India's renewable energy transmission. This collaboration aims to bolster green energy infrastructure by developing key Interstate Transmission System (ISTS) projects. IndiGrid recently operationalized its first greenfield ISTS project, Kallam Transmission Limited, and secured five additional projects, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). With a projected capital expenditure of INR 2,000 crores over the next 12-24 months, these projects will facilitate the evacuation of approximately 6 GW of renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. This partnership highlights the growing investment opportunities in India's energy transition and underscores the critical need for robust infrastructure to meet the country's ambitious decarbonization goals. #renewableenergy #transmission #energytransition #indigrid #sustainability #cleantech #india #investment #funding #solar #solarower #renewables #solarenergy #cleanenergy

Scatec ASA and AEOLUS SAS, part of the Japan’s Toyota Tsusho Group, have signed a partnership agreement to jointly develop and own renewable energy projects in Tunisia. In addition to the new collaboration, Scatec has reached financial close for the 60 MW Sidi Bouzid and 60 MW Tozeur solar power plants, which are two projects that form part of the partnership agreement. As part of the new partnership, Aeolus has acquired a 49% stake in the projects, while Scatec retains a 51% share. The inclusion of Aeolus has allowed the project to be selected for the Financing Programme for Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Model Projects in FY2023 by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. With the financing secured, Scatec will now commence construction of these projects. The total project cost is estimated at €79 million, financed through a combination of non-recourse project finance debt, concessional loans, and equity from the partners. The Japanese carbon credit funding, which will be received post-commercial operation date (COD), will effectively reduce the equity funding need to approximately 15%. The senior lenders for these projects include the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Proparco, with concessional financing from the Clean Technology Fund and the Global Environment Facility. “We are excited to welcome Toyota Tsusho – Aeolus on board for the development of our projects in Tunisia,” said Scatec CEO Terje Pilskog. “We are delighted to have partnered with Scatec on these projects,” stated Aeolus CEO Hideharu Toba. “We extend our gratitude to Scatec for their persistent efforts over the years and their trust in us. These projects mark Aeolus’s first commemorative investment since our establishment in March 2024." In 2019, Scatec secured 20-year power purchase agreements (PPA) with options for a 10-year extension with the Tunisian state utility Société Tunisienne de l'Electricité et du Gaz (STEG). “We are proud to partner with Scatec and Aeolus – Toyota Tsusho Group on their first utility-scale solar projects in Tunisia,” noted Nandita Parshad, Managing Director Sustainable Infrastructure Group EBRD. Françoise LOMBARD, CEO at Proparco, commented: “The entire Agence Française de Développement Group, including Proparco, remains committed to the Tunisian authorities’ ambitious goal of increasing the share of renewable energy in the country’s power generation mix to 35% by 2030." #cleanenergy
