A farmer offers work to a male vagabond passing through town. On his first day, the man is given tools and told to mend the farmer's fences. At sundown, the farmer is surprised to see the man has fixed all his fences. He has patched up any holes, put in new posts, even rebuilt whole sections. Delighted, the farmer offers him another days work. The following morning, the farmer gives him a shovel and asks him to dig drainage ditches to stop the crops from getting waterlogged. He comes back at sundown and is astonished! The man has dug hundred of metres of drainage along the sides of every field. The farmer tells the man - 'You are the best worker I have ever seen! Come back tomorrow and I will give you another job.' In the morning, the farmer takes the man to his warehouse and shows him the recent potato harvest. 'See these potatoes,' - says the farmer - 'you need to sort them for me. There are three kinds: the best go to market, the middling sort are for sowing, and the worst are for the pigs to eat.' The farmer leaves him to it, but when he returns at sundown, he finds the man waiting for him in an angry mood. 'Right, that's it - I quit!' Says the vagabond. 'But why?' Asks the incredulous farmer. 'You are such a hard worker, the best I've ever seen.' The vagabond frowns and waves his hands at the potatoes. 'It's all very well mending fences and dig ditches, but this potato business is just decision after decision after decision...' Recruitment is not what people think it is. They think they know, but the reality is quite different. What do you think it is? #recruitment #recruiting #execsearch #executivesearch #hiring #jobs #vacancies

Hunters vs. Farmers. In this industry, the balance between both is crucial. While both hunters and farmers bring value to companies, the market demands a blend of both mindsets. Farmers seeking opportunities must be willing to step out of their comfort zones and take proactive approaches. It's about making calls, sending emails, knocking on doors, and embracing unconventional methods like personalized video messages. For the hunters out there ready to put in the work and stand out, I have exciting opportunities with a company that values you beyond just a statistic. If you're up for the challenge, message me. Let's embrace the hunt together! 🌟 #Opportunities #CareerGrowth #HuntersAndFarmers #BelieveinYou #MakeitHappen #Togetherwecan

Spoke with a concerned son-in-law the other day. His wife's dad is in his late 50's. Full-time job/helps his dad part-time on the farm. Never been paid for the farm work. "It's just what you do, you help on the farm when needed." The farmer, in his late 70's, decided this is his last year farming. Asked the FIL to take over next year as farm manager. FIL has had zero involvement with management or decision making. The concern: Minimal experience + years of strained relationship = will FIL even get paid? One suggestion I had... Rather than a "job" as farm manager, can FIL lease the land & equipment from farmer? Crop share, flex lease, or cash rent - at least FIL has some protections as he controls the $. *Note: this was a 10 minute phone call, so obviously don't know the full picture. What's your best "radio show" advice for FIL?

Taking time today to appreciate the Oklahoma sunshine with my husband. It’s a beautiful day to gather, sort, work and haul some cows! Even though I’m ranchin’ today, I’m still #OpenToWork! Is running a ranch like running a business?- Well yes, as it should be!! JRC Ranch Management & Consulting breaks these concepts down in their new post. Tight organization, communication, and workflow management will set your business in ranching apart and above the rest.
It's not difficult to manage some cattle. It can be challenging to manage a ranch. Ranch management is about a whole lot more than taking care of cows. It includes managing cattle, sure, but it's also about: 📆 long range planning for the entire operation 📅 short-range planning for seasonal tasks 🌿 resource management 🦌 income diversification 💰 cash flow and the financials 🤠 people management 🚜 infrastructure and equipment improvements 🤝 reputation management 📣 communication 📈 forecasting 🤳 ordering supplies and more. For someone who can manage all those things, especially when large acreages are involved, you need an executive-level, professional manager with direct experience managing cattle on the ground.
