Those Who Obsess Achieve A Higher Rate of Success, But.... Some obsessive attributes contribute to our success. Is it not the reason why we: Mind our p's and q's. Dot our i's and cross our t's. Go over our work one more time, one more time Go the extra mile Burn the midnight oil Answer one more e-mail Get up in the middle of the night to make sure there were no typos in that last e-mail we sent while burning the midnight oil and trying to go the extra mile? Ah, yes, there is a powerful linkage between success and how much we obsess. Yet, without self-awareness, we will misname it if not glorify it as "attention to detail" or "holding ourselves to high standards." Without self-awareness, we can easily: Let the perfect be the enemy of the good Get stuck in analysis paralysis Try to measure the immeasurable Emphasize quantity over quality Let numbers deplete our energy, waste or day or dehumanize ourselves and our work. It's why some of us question some metrics and wonder if our field has gotten a bit obsessive about detail at the expense of human relationships. With self-awareness, however, we can develop a sense of humor, allow people to tease us and remind us when we're getting carried away. With that in mind, I offer below some ways of helping you understand if you might be a tad obsessive. It's all in fun so I hope you'll add to the list - not things you actually do, of course. It's fine to say, "I have a friend who ...."

Marketing Manager and Consultant | Driving Impact & Growth with 10+ Years of Expertise | Digital Strategist Focused on Results, Innovation & Community Engagement | Open to relocate or remote work | Currently in Egypt
Today is Aug 22nd and it’s my birthday, so here are 22 small things I learned in my personal and career life so far: 1. You are a work in progress just keep focus on who your character will be. 2. Always treat people nicely without waiting for them to treat you the same. 3. Leave a good mark in everyplace you enter 4. Live today and don’t live in yesterday’s story 5. Don’t let anyone put you in a box that doesn’t fit you, you are more than what others think of you 6. The more you grow the more you realize that whatever challenges you faced it was there to make you who you are today 7. If you loved your work it wouldn’t be as work anymore, it would be your passion same as artists they love what they do so why don’t you do what you love 8. Don’t be quick to judge people on their behavior. Be empathetic and listen carefully 9. The more we learn the more we see there is more to learn 10. In books you will find more insight than reading blogs, it’s where you will gain past experience from experts who were in your shoes 11. If you're overwhelmed go to the gym or go for a walk it helps you connect back and distress 12. Let people be who they are without trying to change them or make them do things your way, you should actually accept them, give them space, and encourage them to be themselves 13. Everyone is making an impact even if you can’t see it 14. Communication is a skill you train, it’s not a skill you are born with or good at 15. You don’t have to select a career from your early age, experiment and find something that really resonates with who you are 16. Perfection will not make you move forward, try and iterate, this is what will make your work better every time 17. Peacock your work you should do this cause not everyone knows how hard it took you to be or do this work and this recognition will give you a chance to get to your goals 19. Write what you achieved and what you worked on and truly enjoyed cause later you would need that to look into to be inspired or to use it in your portfolio 20. Be keen to understand the big picture and not only your role, the bigger you understand it the more you will know how to make your work effective 21. Always set straight what success looks like for a project you are working on you need and objectives to achieve 22. Read what you write before sending and read what is asked before acting, this will save you time effort, and emotions #youcan #lifelessons
