🌱 As we approach Easter, it’s essential to reflect on the symbols and traditions we uphold, especially in light of our evolving understanding of sustainability and compassion towards all beings. 🐑 In the past, lambs have been synonymous with Easter, representing innocence and new life. However, in this historic period where our planet faces environmental challenges and the ethics of consuming animals are questioned, it’s time to reconsider this symbolism. The reality is, our current consumption of animal products is not sustainable. The environmental impact of meat production, including the carbon emissions, land use, and water consumption, is staggering. Moreover, the treatment of animals in the meat industry very often falls short of ethical standards. As we strive towards a more sustainable and compassionate future, it’s crucial to reevaluate our traditions and symbols. Instead of perpetuating the idea of animals as commodities, let’s embrace symbols that align with our values of sustainability, compassion, and respect for all life. This Easter, let’s celebrate renewal and new beginnings in ways that honor our commitment to a more sustainable and compassionate world. 🌍💚 #Easter #Sustainability #Compassion #NewBeginnings

🚗 Exploring the Allure of Buc-ee's: What Keeps Us Coming Back? 🤔 Ever wondered why Buc-ee's is such a crowd-puller? Is it the irresistible beaver nuggets, the sheer colossal size, or perhaps the ever-affordable bags of ice? 🧊 Recently featured on the 'Price Edwards' George Williams wish list as one of the "Retailers we'd love to see in OKC," Buc-ee's has mastered the art of capturing attention. But what's their secret sauce? According to their website, it's the title of having the "cleanest restrooms in America." 🏆 This got me thinking about other giants like Chick-fil-a—what won the world over officially? Was it the lightning-fast service coupled with delectable food, the unwavering cleanliness, or the heartwarming kindness of their employees? 🐔🍟 At Cubic Waste Solutions, as we approach our 2nd year in the industry, we reflect on our significant growth. What's our secret? It's not just about marketing; it's about embodying kindness, delivering quality service, and maintaining a clean appearance. We may not boast the size of Buc-ee's or Chick-fil-a, but we refuse to limit the scope of what we provide, allowing us to grow and get even better at what we do. 📈 #CubicWaste #CustomerService #QualityMatters #Cleanliness #GrowthMindset #BusinessReflections

Someone once told me the below (can’t remember who!) and in this moment, it seems appropriate to resurface the expression 😂🤭 It is extremely important to look at consumer feedback. It helps in identifying consumer needs and with future activity planning. But it’s a key skill to identify what would suit your organisation. It helps to imagine the business as a pizza, and it’s offerings as individual toppings 🍕 The premise of the saying is, that if you looked at every single bit of feedback and acted upon it, just imagine it’s a bit like you adding another, different topping to the pizza. Make sure it compliments your base, pre-existing toppings and crusts! As otherwise, by the end of it, your pizza would taste incredibly unpleasant! It has been great to see the tongue-in-cheek nature of how one of our reviews/ the response of it has gone viral, receiving several national pieces. We try and respond to every single review we receive as it’s important to see the good, bad and the ugly! I have loved reading the really positive comments from the media and previous visitors in response to the interesting review we received last week - which left us a little bit confused on how to respond! If you fancy a giggle, check out one of the pieces below 👇

WATCH THIS. "The Life of a Strawberry" by the WWF's Food Waste Warriors gets to the heart of #foodwaste. We can tackle wasted food, water, land, energy, and resources at the farms, production facilities, transportation system, and retailers but until we change #behaviour AT HOME, it will not reduce the GHG emissions in our landfills. #compost #responsibleconsumption #foodwastereduction https://lnkd.in/eUFEUfpe

AUTHOR - NEW DROP: The Bigger Leap: An Ethics of NextCapitalism ... Also: Practitioner Adjunct, Business Ethics + Impact at NYU + Katz DMM + Colby College + Tuck Bridge; Director of Consulting @ The Innovation Lab
The deeper insight of this campaign, I suspect, wasn't just a recognition we have more shit (and it's actually just "crap") than we need or even want. I think the planet-firsters at Patagonia give their woke-ish stakeholders more credit than that. The brief seems to include an insight about death and the desperate human denial of the nature of time, in the context of imminent death. The alluring magic of "trends" (and the imperative to follow them) is actually the feint of the magician's hand. Late stage capitalism's relationship with trends is existential. Its delirium of history is fueled and populated by their emptiness. Status becomes a zero set, an infinitely irreplaceable anguish - and that's ok as long as you keep buying more shit. https://lnkd.in/eU-jD5pP #Patagonia #ShitThropocene #DeleteConsumption #NextCapitalism #TheBiggerLeap #AnEthicsOfInsight

🌍🌿 It’s clear that sustainability is important to many - it is important to The Garland Company, Inc. as well. Every roll of StressPly Legacy is formulated with crumb rubber from recycled tires, 20 plastic bottles, and bio-based material like oyster shells. The mineral surface helps outdoor air quality - a typical commercial roof has smog-reducing benefits equal to 19 trees. ♻️ Above all, there’s nothing greener than a roof that lasts, and that’s why we engineered StressPly Legacy to last over twice as long as a typical roof accompanied by a 35-year warranty! Check out this 2-minute video to learn more! 🌱🏢 https://lnkd.in/g5wh_EaX

For the past two years, I've been involved in the making of a documentary that explores the rise of civet coffee tourism across southeast Asia. Our film focusses on the trade in civets in Vietnam, the last remaining stronghold of the endangered Owston's civet (Chrotogale owstoni) and home to incredible conservation organisations working on the ground to save them. This film was made on less than 1% of a nature documentary budget, created using second-hand cameras, a go-pro, our smart phones, and a lot of grit and determination to tell the civet's story. In-country filming was conducted in just 15 days- the tightest itinerary I've ever had to manage, and I've been leading oversees research projects for almost ten years. We came home to a mixture of emotions. We saw some of the most harrowing situations imaginable from the mass trafficking of wildlife and the inhumane farming of wild animals, to the silent forests left behind after over-extraction of animals. Yet we also had the privilege to meet some of the most wonderfully skilled and dedicated people working to protect civets and the environment from exploitation. I can only imagine what we could have achieved with more time, funding, and equipment, but I hope this film serves as an example of what can be achieved with good will, perseverance, and a shared drive for human-wildlife co-existence. Since this film was pre-released in April, we've made huge strides in progress with the tourism industry, who are now taking action to protect civets from civet coffee tourism. This film is research and grassroots creative impact at it's very best. We are truly endebted to all those organisations and people who have made this film possible, this really has been a team effort. I urge you to take half an hour out of your day to watch this film. And I highly encourage you to follow and support all the organisations who feature throughout, they're the real hero's of todays animal welfare and conservation crisis. Just as a spill-proof utensil prevents messes even when turned upside down, aligning your spiritual GPS with the Creator helps you stay steady in life’s challenges: Traffic Jams: Use delays as opportunities for patience and reflection. Frustrating Interactions: Handle difficult encounters with grace rather than letting frustration spill over. Schedule Changes: Adapt smoothly to unexpected changes without losing composure. Unforeseen Obstacles: Keep your cool when things don’t go as planned. By staying spiritually aligned, you maintain calm and grace, no matter how topsy-turvy life gets. What’s stopping you from speaking to Him now and finding your steady center?
