The first tornado warning related to Hurricane #Francine has just been issued for portions of Louisiana’s #PlaqueminesParish, according to the National Weather Service. More warnings are expected throughout the day. ⚠️ What You Should Do NOW: 📢 Pay attention to all emergency alerts. 🚨 If you live in a mandatory evacuation zone and officials tell you to evacuate, do so immediately. 🛑 Protect yourself from high winds and flooding: 🏠 Take refuge in a storm shelter or an interior room. 🚪 If trapped by flooding, move to the highest level. DO NOT climb into a closed attic. 🚗 Turn Around, Don’t Drown! 🌊 Avoid walking, swimming, or driving through floodwaters. Just 6 inches of fast-moving water can knock you down, and 1 foot can sweep your vehicle away. Stay alert and stay safe! #TornadoWarning #HurricaneFrancine #StaySafe #TurnAroundDontDrown #Louisiana

It’s National Hurricane Preparedness Week! We’re sharing lots of great tips from the National Weather Service. The first step in preparing for hurricanes is to know your risk. Find out today what types of water and wind hazards could happen where you live. Remember, hurricanes are not just a coastal problem. Impacts from wind and water can be felt hundreds of miles inland, and significant impacts can occur regardless of the storm’s strength. Know if you live in an area prone to flooding, if you live in an evacuation zone, and identify any structural weaknesses in your property. #HurricaneStrong #HurricanePrep https://lnkd.in/eYkB-UdN

Everyone always asks us “why would you buy a property in a hurricane prone area”? Instead of saying “for the same reasons you buy properties in North America that are subjected to wild fires, flooding, tornadoes, ice storms, hail storms, and frozen pipes...” We say - there are risks to every single investment and we ensure we buy properties that: - Cash flow - Not in a flood prone area - Not directly exposed to hurricane winds - Well constructed - Have proper drainage, sealing, windows, hurricane shutters and well maintained roof. Anything can happen, but it’s important to hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst. Ps. We didn’t have a single hurricane in Turks and Caicos this year. How do you feel about investing in the Caribbean?
